The more I learn about Marshall and ODU desperately trying to keep USM to stay and add JMU and even Liberty. What a different conference it would like like (no offense to Jax State, NM STATE, or SH). But why would she fight some of her remaining schools just to have a more western feel. Is she on house arrest and can’t leave Texas?

Would Southern Miss had stayed with those additions? I'm not so sure.
I think the chance you guys had at an eastern conference left with UNCC. And as long as UTEP is in the conference, it will never be an eastern conference.

First of all, how did Judy fight against Marshall?

Second, why should cusa with members in Texas, Louisiana, Virginia and Florida ever become just an eastern conference?
Third of all, everyone that left to the SB was already in talks with the SB. You want us to beg you to pretty please stay. Get out of here. Nothing we say or do would have made anyone stay because we don't have a good TV deal.

I agree. All those that left did so on their own accord, for THEIR benefit. Which is fine, that's their right. But it has already grown very tiring listening to all their mess.

We have a conference of 9 schools. Everyone who could has leapt over the fence to greener pastures, and we still have one who is clamoring to follow them.

As for Judy, I don't think she hates the east, I just think she is woefully incompetent; completely unqualified to be commissioner of a Girl Scout Troop, let alone a Division I conference.
The question shouldn't be if Mrs. MacLeod hates the eastern half of the footprint; the question should be: what is your vision of C-USA moving forward?

First look is survival. After survival is assured, probably more FCS move ups at some point.

You don't realize how dead on the money you are. Had a few pieces fallen differently CUSA and the SB would look totally different going forward.
The AAC really did CUSA dirty by taking six of its teams. LOL. It almost feels like the AAC could not decide between the six schools it ultimately selected and therefore decided to take them all. If the AAC had only taken two or four CUSA teams it would have left CUSA in a much stronger position to navigate conference realignment.

A lot of schools (Tulane included) sure spent a lot of money to leave CUSA only to be back in CUSA 03-lmfao

I don't think the AAC did C-USA 3.0 in by taking the 6. There were still 8 viable teams with decent football left to build a core around. They could have just added 2 or 4 more teams and kept rolling.

CUSA 3.0 was then a Texas based conference that lost it's Texas base.

I think So. Miss. did C-USA 3.0 in.

They were determined to get out whatever the cost and doing so made it unstable.

Whether folks want to acknowledge it or not CUSA 3.0 was still perceived to be a better conference overall to the currently constituted Sun Belt. The members were more financially stable and had a better total distribution (not just TV money) than the Belt.

USM leaving for a "perceived" lesser conference was a signal that CUSA was on "life-support".

Marshall's hesitation after USM left was clear evidence they thought something worthwhile could still be salvaged (aka forming that East Coast based conference they wanted) but ODU leaving put that possibility to rest. JMU was going to go wherever ODU went and vise versa.

The underlining trend of all these moves is that current conference leadership does not inspire the confidence of the membership. So. Miss.'s issues weren't being addressed effectively by the conference, so they left. That was the real domino to topple the whole thing.

To answer the tread topic question Judy doesn't hate the East, she just doesn't understand them.

Everyone west of the Mississippi has to get on a plane for a golf match or volleyball so she doesn't understand the complaining when schools that seem to have even better access to air travel complain about paying to move their Olympic sports teams by air in the first place. That's just normal life in the West.

Conference HQ is in Texas, makes sense over the previous HQ site (Chicago) from an affordability standpoint but it means the Texas schools have easier access to them and the HQ staff has easier access to local venues for conference tourneys......result: Everything happens in Texas and pisses the other 10 schools off.

This is probably the case. We weren't taken to prevent the formation of an East Coast Conference by the AAC because I don't think they'd have cared if that had happened, but the result is the same. Like I stated above I still think it was possible to form an East Coast Conference without us but not having us dropped that likelihood significantly. I know that behind the scenes we were active in that movement.
