Assuming this is something other than PT? Can't imagine he was expecting to get immediate time as a true frosh given what we have on the DL this year.
When you enter the portal is your R&B terminated immediately?

Maybe he does not like Tres as much as Freeman, or maybe he does not click well with the team/culture.
Well, look at it as an opportunity. Under the new rule, we can sign up to 7 more per class to offset transfers.

His brother just got an offer from Marshall according to twitter...doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility that he wanted to play with him and that is a far easier way to see the field given our DL depth chart.
Good luck to the young man whatever he chooses. It would have been nice to see him help the Bearcats but if his heart isn't fully here then he's doing what's best for both parties.
I think he was scout team player of the week a week or two ago. UM 247 analyst now also calling Mario Eugenio to Cincy so this might have something to do with it.

Damn!!! Mario Eugenio would be a massive get. This would be bigger than the young man from Ironton. Luke and the boys are killing it, and becoming Harbaugh's worst nightmare.
lawton was such a late coup it sux to see him go; hopefully it's indicative- as others have speculated- of the influx of talent and his loss is minimal if at all. obviously. sux all the same. same with segree. but i'm done getting worked up over it

I am right there with you I hate it when anyone of them leave even if it is in their best interest. Once a Bearcat always a Bearcat. Even if they don't make it to campus. Hope it works out for both of these guys.
Marquez Bell.

Weird that he would announce prior to the Bama game.

That’s a once in a lifetime experience that most college football players never get to experience.
Need to find a new home before the next semester starts. Portal is about to get busy for a lot of teams.

There's so much activity in the transfer portal with some very highly rated players jumping ship. I mentioned what's happening with UVA in the coaching thread. If you are planning on transferring you probably should have put in your papers last week.

I believe the staff works a lot with these guys to help them find a new home while still allowing them to stay with the team. See Ben Bryant last year.

Which again makes me wonder why he announces now?

Regardless of where he transfers, this will be his only chance to be a part of a CFP game, even if it's standing on the sidelines for the entire game.

Why give up that opportunity?

Certainly the level of programs he will be looking to transfer to will still be there for him after the CFP.
He likely announced now since the next 3 weeks is the holiday transfer shopping season for anyone who wants to early enroll at their next school. Wait until after the bowls and it’s too late. He completed the season and was part of a conference championship, too. Had he announced a month ago, that would not be the case.

Early signing period often dictates how many spots are available, too. Lots of things happen between now and the end of the year.
Another one. I really hate to see kids transfer, but for many it's probably for the best for them.

He had been here for 3 years and hasn't played a single snap...sad to lose a Bearcat, but he isn't a loss.

Bell was getting recruited over and has a cadre of talented WR still in the system.

Wake me up when we lose a guy who actually played anything resembling a worthwhile amount of time on the field.

That's right. This is part of the process. With 85 scholarship players there are going to be some misses and even some good players who just get passed on the depth chart by great players and want to go somewhere to get PT. When you have key players leaving that you were counting on that's when you worry. That's not going to happen much around here with the way Fickell and his staff emphasize family building.
