Oh but WKU was also involved with those festivities, don't you remember? Or is that water over the dam?

I tend to be a forgiving person. So if WKU and LT later join I will welcome them because it's all just business at the end of the day. Still funny to look back and see how they trashed the Belt and how they were looking for a route out this time around. No deeply held hard feelings but won't ever fully let it die lol.
Ultimately this is a business, I don't have any issues with our leadership saying we are better than Team A or Conference B, perception and reality can be closely correlated.

People make fun of the AAC's P6 narrative, but it did lead the conference to a lot success.

The P6 moniker the AAC used didn't exactly disparage other schools or conferences.

There's a difference.

I don't remember that at all.

I thought WKU fans left on good terms. Maybe I'm wrong.

For CUSA, the only program that'll be tough to replace is Marshall. USM might of been tougher to replace 8 years ago, but they've been in a downward spiral.

Sunbelt's pride will be the your downfall, should of poached La Tech while you could, instead you let an elementary dispute get in the way and let CUSA rebuild. You're all kidding yourself if you think Liberty and Missouri State aren't going to jump your team in next realignment.

Wait, so you think that the Sun Belt made poor decisions with USM, ODU, JMU, and Marshall, yet you think we also should have picked you up? We're not talking an 'elementary dispute.' We're talking about an Athletic Director who blatantly belittled regional programs for no good reason and a fanbase who has done the same since day one. Now that your conference is falling behind, we should suddenly let it go to save you?

Nah. Good luck with whatever you want to call that conference. We'll be just fine while we watch LaTech throw a temper tantrum for not getting its way. Best wishes to FIU, WKU, MTSU, and UTEP, though.

I think La Tech and WKU should have replaced JMU and ODU. Leave JMU in FCS and ODU is a new call up that hasn't been successful, so they wouldn't fight like hell to stay in FBS.

Should of went for a kill shot, instead you were petty, hopefully it doesn't cost you.

I didn't know I hated La Tech until now... are their fans always this arrogant? Aren't La Tech and WKU glorified community colleges?

That’s rich coming from a JMU fan.

JMU is a M1 (Tier 4) Carnegie School.
It’s considered a “Regional” school not a “National” school by USNWR.

I know JMU is a great school but come on lol.

You realize that Carnegie classification is based on institutional focus and not academic quality, right? Being R2 doesn't make a school "better" than a regional university -- it makes it more research focused. Likewise, being R1 doesn't make a school "better" than an R2 university. Literally no one thinks Wayne State (R1, USNWR #249) is better than Wake Forest (R2, USNWR #28). Will JMU suddenly be a better school when we reclassify to R2 later this academic year? That's absurd.

The only major ranking I know of that disregards Carnegie classification is Forbes. JMU is #96 and La Tech is #397. That's not close. In fact, here's how Forbes ratings look for the Sun Belt.

JMU - 96
Ga State - 241
App State - 377
Ga Southern - 391
Texas St. - 407
Southern Miss - 492
Marshall - 496
ODU - 516
Coastal - NR
Troy - NR
South Alabama - NR
ULL - NR
ULM - NR
Arkansas St. - NR

So if a JMU fan can't talk a little academic smack on La Tech (#397) or WKU (#521), who in the Sun Belt can? Are we allowed to talk smack next month when we reclassify to R2? For the record, I don't take issue with the academics of any poster's school here, but don't act like JMU is somehow beneath the others.
I’m not acting like JMU is beneath anyone.

I had not thought of the academics of JMU once in my entire life.

The only time I looked was when a JMU poster said, “Aren’t La Tech and WKU glorified community colleges?”. Completely out of no where.

I also added JMU was a great school, because when I looked JMU had a lot of cool stuff and good rankings.
So don’t get offended because I didn’t throw the first stone.

There's a difference.

If the AAC is saying we're good enough to be in the P5, that's no different than saying we're better than the G5.

Similar to the La Tech AD saying CUSA is a step up from the Sunbelt conference. If he doesn't believe it, who will?

I posted this because I kept seeing some LaTech posters complain that Laugheyette is leading this false narrative about how their admin and (some) fans have been dickheads.

Well here's one of the receipts.

No you posted it because like was earlier stated and you just continue to prove is that ULL is obsessed with LaTech. It’s actually funny except it’s so pathetic. I mean you just started a whole nother thread about Tech. And it’s like I said it’s a smear campaign on your part now. And ask USA how we don’t schedule Belt schools. Do you realize that if someone wanted to dig up all the crap ULL has said about ULM Coastal and APP you could also fill page after page. I can show you pages where they trashed the Sun Belt and said that they Had to get out of that crappy conference

Makes sense in terms of why you took offense to the other poster’s statement. I’m not here to throw any stones. I just think it’s funny when posters from other schools take a “that’s a little rich coming from JMU” attitude, when JMU is one of the top academic institutions in the G5.

The only G5 schools ahead of JMU in the Forbes rankings are the service academies, Rice, BYU, San Diego St., and UConn. Most top 100 schools are either FCS (Ivy/Patriot), D3 (liberal arts schools), or P5. Our academics are pretty decent.

I'd say about 80% of them are
Your own conference is now on record saying that you are a better conference than the AAC so how exactly is that any different? It’s not. We just have one school ULL who is going out of their way to smear another.

JMU is a great school with a kick ass stadium and a good add for the Belt. I don’t know about your academics but I do know that Tech is hardly a community college
Now let’s count the days until uLL starts another anti LaTech thread. Let the obsession continue.
theATLDawg posts 4 times in less than an hour in this thread and is projecting obsession. 03-lmfao

Really because how many of these threads are started by any other school than ULL. Sorry only ULL starts these things hoping the other schools will pile on

I think, if anything, your trip down "memory lane" should remind everyone that a bad situation can happen to ANYONE given the right set of circumstances, even if the current situation looks pretty safe. My takeaway is that maybe we'll be able to overcome our current situation as you all appear to have. I just hope it doesn't take us until 2029 to do it.

You need some athletic funding buddy. Davidson Trucking cannot carry the load all by themselves and you guys are NOT in a hotbed of economic activity. Its a reality.
I would hate being in your situation.

Dude, you have 40 negative reputation points on this family of forums. I don't know if I've ever seen that much, and it's from a nice diverse collection of fans.

I don't think anyone else needs to do any smearing, you do it yourself.
