Full Version: I don't normally do a thread for ONE day of MAC hoops, but

Today was a really fascinating day of MAC hoops.

EMU stays with IU in Bloomington in Stan Heath's debut.

More shocking, OSU scores a FG with 0.3 seconds to play to come from behind and beat Akron by a single point. That game was Akron's to lose. That took the lead on a FOUR pointer with 7 seconds to play.

Miami(O) beat Ga. Tech. NIU is leading Washington late in the 2nd half.

And a shoutout to Ohio which beat Belmont in hoops and ... in football.

NIU hangs on to beat Washington. So the MAC beat Ga. Tech and Washington and came within less than a half-second of beating nationally ranked OSU>

Crazy start to the MBB season...
Toledo beat Valpo 69-61.

Western Carolina beat Bowling Green 79-71 in overtime. Georgia Southern beat Ball State 82-71. Missouri beat Central Michigan 78-69.

There were a TON of upsets yesterday... For example, "The ACC's really bad night. Virginia lost to Navy, Pitt lost to The Citadel and Georgia Tech lost to Miami (Ohio) -- all at home. " ESPN.

" There were a bunch of upsets that surprised me -- UC San Diego over Cal, The Citadel over Pitt, Miami (Ohio) over Georgia Tech, Western Illinois over Nebraska, etc. - "
While I am happy for the MAC in general, this puts a damper on my excitement that EMU played Indiana so effectively. At least this should make for an exciting season.
Michigan beat Buffalo 88-76.

Western Michigan beat Hope 76-58.

Yesterday, Ohio beat Belmont 92-80.
I guess I'm now not the only one who feels the MAC will be a two bid conference this year before this season ever got started.

The MAC conference teams had a heck of a night last night. They beat ACC, PAC-12, MVC and only lost by 6 to a Big-10 team. @MACSports
this conference is loaded with young overlooked players as well as veteran players from HM that it didn’t work out for. 2 bid conference

And recall NIU was the team picked to finish behind us in the MAC.

Gosh I hope you are right! If you are correct James, believe me I will give you credit at season end because I still think the MAC is an automatic only one bid league. Maybe I'm too parochial in my thinking, by comparing the two Washtenaw county NCAA programs. EMU would be far more competitive in the Big House than in the Chrisler Center, but that is my opinion only. To be wrong about MAC basketball would be a pleasant surprise for me.
UC Riverside beats Arizona State on a 3 quarter court buzzer beater.
Northern Illinois at Indiana tonight. Glad NIU got to celebrate their victory over Washington. Not likely to happen tonight.

If this does hold true, ‘79 will get a lot of props for calling it early! …Let’s hope EMU is one of the bids.
Indiana beat Northern Illinois 85-49 tonight.

Michigan State beat Western Michigan 90-46 tonight..

Xavier beat Kent State 73-59 tonight.

Bowling Green beat Ohio Wesleyan 101-60 tonight.

Hey Jerry,

I think this year we will deserve two bids. Buffalo is loaded and had the best player on their team when they faced UofM. Buffalo or Ohio will most likely be our two bids :-)

OK I have officially added both James and Tom to my list of "apologies required" when the MAC gets two bids this year. I hope both of you are right but...
DePaul beats Central Michigan 99-66.

Miami of Ohio beats Lamar 104-75.

Ohio beats Cleveland State 66-57.
