Maybe they're hoping to stick with 7 and get a waiver.

They're almost certainly figuring out what happens with WKU/MTSU and taking a harder look at the remaining candidates with the relative luxury of having more teams interested than realistically open spots. Also wouldn't surprise me if Chattanooga and/or EKU are part of the short list and they're simply waiting for WKU/MTSU to announce a departure so they can't block.

I think these four adds will get the ball rolling. There still needs confirmation. Supposedly NMSU vote on Friday.

Maybe an announcement every or every other week here on out.

Still waiting on wku anc mtsu to decide.

Yeah. I am thinking maybe 3 other fcs (hoping ndsu, SDSU and MoSU) regardless of what wku and mtsu decide and if both leaves: EKU and UTC then get the nod
CUSA needs to be careful about adding teams just to add teams.

LaTech
UTEP
NMSU (Great add for UTEP)
SHSU (good add for UTEP)
Missouri State doesnt appear to be interested. But if they are interested, Im sure CUSA will listen hard

Jax State (Good add for LaTech and to a lesser extent, FIU)
Liberty
FIU
EKU might be a decent add for Liberty
UT Chattanooga

According to Dennis Dodd about 30 fcs schools want to be the 8th choice. You would think out of that number, a few will be good to go.

2 of the 30 are Sam Houston State and Jacksonville State. This is my count.

1 AEC Stony Brook
4 ASUN Jacksonville State, UCA, UNA, EKU
1 A10 Dayton
1 Big Sky Idaho
1 Big South North Carolina A&T
2 CAA Delaware, Towson
1 Horizon Youngstown State
5 MVC Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana State
2 OVC Murray State, Tennessee State
1 SoCon Chattanooga
3 SWAC Jackson State, Texas Southern (Houston market), Florida A&M
2 Summit North Dakota State, South Dakota State
5 WAC Sam Houston State, SFAU, Lamar, ACU, Tarleton State

Pick and choose.

I can see quite a few of those having reached out, but you left out UMass, who absolutely 100% reached out to CUSA to be a football-only affiliate. The AD Bramford even showed the brochure they sent to the CUSA office and member institutions in an interview he recently gave.

The complication may be that, with only one more spot available for certain, it's possible that the CUSA commissioner is being flooded with phone calls and emails from FCS schools that don't want to be one of those left behind. Musical chairs, as it were...
If CUSA really has 30 FCS schools knocking on the door, what it the possibility that the conference tries to get up to 12 members to give a buffer against future possible losses?

Is there really a point to the "buffer" strategy? Six months ago, they were bloated at 14, and they got nuked down to 3. More FCS callups just means that the leagues above CUSA in the food chain have more options if/when they raid CUSA again.

About the same as the odds of Jenna Coleman inviting you to join her for a holiday dinner.
12 would give CUSA an opportunity to propose a scheduling agreement with the big 12 and or the MWC

One thing about scraping the bottom of the barrel to get to 10 is that the Go5 distribution at present gives $1m per school up to 10 schools ... so while you need 8 to be FBS, both the 9th and the 10th add $1m per school.

That incentive drops out at 10. Also, only the first 8 are required to be full members, to qualify as an FBS conference ... the $1m per school includes affiliates.

So assuming that the best picks get picked first, the incentive drops after ten, and also you have already picked the best prospects.

But if CUSA remains at 8 and the leagues above them raid again, CUSA starts over at possibly 3. They are presumably at 5 fbs schools with NMSU and Liberty. They at least need to be at 9 or even 10 full members imo.
Yet AAC and SBC went to 14, MAC looking at 14.
The cfp payout appears not to inhibit conferences from taking more than 10.

I think CUSA will go to at least 10, likely 12; but wouldn’t be shocked to see 14.
Inventory.

1) DavidSt needs to quit making Stony Brook to FBS happen. It's not happening. UAlbany would be more likely since they can expand their stadium to FBS capacity mire easily. Plus, Stony Brook is further out LI than folks from outside of NY realize. It's an hour drive to Queens.

2) UMass is FBS already, at least on paper. Also, nobody wants to take a team Football only unless they bring a ton if money and eyes to the table or are a traditional rival of the entire conference like Hawaii was.

There is not only 1 more spot available. There are 5-7 the way everyone is at 14 and 12 now.

That would be great, if they can figure out some way to generate enough broadcasting revenue to make that possible.

$0 / 8 or $0 / 14 pretty much the same number

What scheduling agreement might that be? Why would the Big 12 want to schedule CUSA teams? They already do that, there called buy games.
