Does anyone really want them? I don't think there's a need for them any more with Troy and South being in the same division, and we only get 2 cross-divisional games (we're not going to a 9-game conference schedule, nor should we) so that would be one rotating cross-divisional game.

The only protected cross-division game now is Troy and USA. Now that Troy is coming to the West there is no need to do cross-division designated rivals. Even if Troy stayed in the East, we'd have USM and be OK to end the only protected cross division game.
Just out of curiosity, if you could pick a cross divisional rival, who would you pick?

Arkansas State and App State had a good thing going there for a bit, but then Blake Anderson let it crumble.
I'm not in favor of the cross-division rivalries. First off, any "rivalries" after all the teams are on board will have to be manufactured and I don't think that is of any real benefit.

Appalachian State and one of the Georgia programs. Prefer Marshall but nice to break it up with conference change

Big nope if playing 8 schedule. Rest of division we would see the teams once every 12 years at home in football

If had to only pick one it would be Coastal, football for obvious reasons and for baseball
ODU would really like to play TXST every year.

I’d love it
I vote for UL. vs Coastal for obvious reasons

I think I'd have to go with Marshall. We've only faced off once and that was for the DI-AA National Championship and we won by 1 point. If you are going to manufacture a "rivalry" that's a pretty good place to start.

I’ve got family in St. Amant and Gonzales in Ascension Parish in Louisiana and love that we’re going to have games in Monroe and Lafayette. Spent a majority of every summer as a kid in Louisiana—fishing on the bayou, can’t beat it.
If we would play a cross division rival I would want Alp for two reasons, one because I like how this rivalry is developing. Two they are actually the first time I cognitively remember watching in person as a kid. (No it wasn’t against UL).
We don’t need it anymore but I’d like to keep squaring off against Georgia southern if we had one permanent cross
Southern Miss was actually Marshall's most commonly played C-USA opponent. If there is a cross-divisional opponent, I think they would have to be ours.
No to cross division rivals. I like that the East and West will meet at the end of the season to claim bragging rights in the championship. Plus I don't want to wait 10 years to play App.
I think we would choose AState or Troy now that they would be in the West.
Not that I want a cross divisional rival, but if it were to happen then then ODU is as good as any and better than most (for us anyway).

I keep seeing ODU and Texas St fans saying this. What makes 2 schools so far apart feel this way?
We already get to play Louisiana every year in the conference championship game, so doesn’t matter to me.
