That's a huge effort by the ULM softball program to fundraise over $1 million for that facility.

ULM has been doing a pretty good job getting their facilities nice and updated.
It’s obvious the current president sees the value in athletics unlike past administration.
awesome to read - look forward to some matches with our Dukes!
Congrats - that's a great accomplishment and good to see ULM continuing to take strides to invest in their programs.
When did ULM get a rich uncle??? Good to see all this happening for them. I know the ULM fans have to be excited about all these announcements.
Congrats ULM. Great improvements.
ULM has been dumped on for years due to operating with a very limited budget. Many did not know that our issues were self inflicted. Our last president did not want to commit suitable funding towards athletics. He once said, in essence, that increasing athletic funding would cause too much scrutiny due to some budgets being cut across the campus. So, ULM athletics had to schedule money games in order to make up for the lack of funding we were receiving. In fact, one of our ADs had to beg the then president to provide at least the state allowed maximum of funding, so that ULM could be competitive. Well, as has been previously stated, our current president understands and sees the value athletics brings to a college campus. He made the push to hire Terry Bowden. He worked with Bowden and the athletic department to get ULM to where cost of attendance is now being paid. He is also working behind the scenes to help each sport improve their facilities. There is a new day on the bayou! This is not the same ULM you guys have become accustomed to seeing and playing. We sit in a recruiting hotbed and are just hours down I-20 from the Dallas Metro area, Jackson, MS, Birmingham, AL, and Atlanta, GA. The potential is there!
CONGRATS TO ULM . . awesome additions to your facilities.

No rich uncles but a couple of ladies with no ties to ULM but like the vision that Molly pitched. This isn't just about improving softball but preparing these students for life because there is really no way to make a living playing softball professionally. The names on the building honor the women who donated about half of the total cost. Next phases will include a turf field, new scoreboard and increased seating. Molly is a great ambassador for ULM.
It truly feels like the shackles have come off of our athletic programs. It really is nice to see everything coming together.

I hope the city of Monroe gets behind these teams and comes to support them. I'll give folks a pass for not being absolute diehards and not wanting to come out and watch a losing program, but if the progress towards winning continues, folks need to come out and stand behind them.

I think that is slowly happening. Bowden and President Berry have breathed new life into this program. Shout out to Federico getting it done on the upgrades to the baseball facility for this year and Molly for getting the funds for the softball upgrades. Bowden will get football the needed upgrades and now we need basketball to get done as well.

All of this is great news for ULM athletics and for the Sun Belt Conference as a whole.

Believe me, we Cajuns fans have a very real understanding of your issues with University leadership holding down athletics; we all have our Ray Authemont memories. I am glad to see that ULM is finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel [that isn't an oncoming freight train].
