Process started back in a July when Southern Miss AD met with the SBC and then helped drive the deal sign ESPN.

If this is indeed the case then it’s a no brainer for Marshall and ODU

You're stating the obvious. ESPN collusion was always the primary reason this all went down for all the reasons mentioned on this forum by several people.

So a couple of things:

1. It is not yet certain how much the new AAC members will receive initially. The amount varies between 2 mil to 3.5 mil per for the new members. Current members will still receive what they have receiving which increases through the term of the current tv deal.

2. What is the equal exposure? Both are on ESPN except the SBC plays Tuesday and Wednesday games?

If Liberty is a “no” how many other schools want to try and hitch a ride to a move up that may not survive, but in the short term cripple their AD revenue due to heavy travel costs. If it is just UTEP, FIU, and LT there is no real set of adds that are geographically feasible to be added that works from a cheap travel perspective.

I could be wrong when it comes to equal exposure. But let's say two teams play on a Saturday at the same time. One is slated to be on ESPN, and the other is slated to be on ESPN2.

In the past, ESPN would default to the AAC teams.

Now I think they will give credence to the higher ranked or more intriguing matchup as it comes.

This is a little bit more complicated because the 6 going to the AAC essentially do not have voting rights now and therefore it would seem that USM does not as well. So the real question is how/when would be the option to vote to disband and who gets to vote. Because this is happening piecemeal it is a bit more difficult to just have everyone walk in and vote to disband.

Now, do I believe that if WKU and MTSU got to the MAC that the CUSA is done? Yes. Do I think that the vote to disband is going to be as simple as those leaving voting against those staying, No.

This may get a little ugly because the exit fees involved and how it looks like UTEP, LT, and FIU have no real landing spots. How can those schools let other schools that may or may not have voting rights be allowed to vote to disband at the cost of their own benefit of losing the exit fees? I guess somebody smarter (or more interested at least) than me really needs to work through the CUSA bylaws and rules to order and voting policies to get a definitive answer.

True. But nobody expected the payout/exposure to match that of the new AAC schools…including that $10 Million fee to the AAC, the new SBC schools are smelling like a rose!

Why is anybody surprised at this?

ESPN weakened the MWC in 2010 when the Pac-12 invited Utah, BYU was given a good independent deal on ESPN and TCU was invited to the Big East. The MWC’s sin? They signed with an unknown entity (CSTV) and launched the first conference network.

The Big East met a similar fate in 2011.

Fast forward to 2021 and ESPN did the same to the Big XII. The SEC was favored over the Big Ten because the former has an ESPN owned conference network and the latter doesn’t.

Is it any coincidence the same happened to C-USA? Why anyone is surprised at this point? The MWC is safe for now but for how long?

FOX and CBS haven’t done or said anything. Did anyone notice FOX didn’t say anything in regards to the Big XII when ESPN was trying to destroy one of its properties this summer? That tells you all you need to know. NBC is shutting NBC Sports this fall so now we have less options. How serious is CBS in its commitment to CBS Sports? If FOX/FS1 decides to stick with the Big Ten, the Pac-12, Big East and to a lesser extent the Big XII then it’s bad news for the G5. There’s no leverage if ESPN tells you to play on Tuesday night on ESPNU for peanuts. Where are you going to go? Facebook TV? Stadium?

I know. You guys were one of the last invited to the AAC and should have been one of the first along with us and USM. Who knows where we'd be if we'd stayed together. Rising tide and all that.

What has ECU done since joining…nothing. You have no room to talk about any team. Worry about your own house.

ECU was first ranked AAC team under the new G5/P5 system. Our idiot AD then went and fired the best coach ECU had in a decade. We lost 6 years after that because of the boneheaded move. We got into the AAc because we earned it.
