If I was a fan/alumni of LT, MTSU, WKU I'd be begging the MAC for membership. Whatever it takes. Whatever the fees. You GOTTA make it happen.

LT = strong athletics in FB, bb, and baseball
WKU = strong BB, solid football
MTSU = Bball is in a funk. Is a good hire away from rebounding. FB won the east a few years ago. Like BB, one good hire away. And most importantly, close to the Nashville market.

RE: UTEP/FIU...UTEP should be begging the MWC. You're FB program is on the rise. Bball is solid with a lot of history. El Paso is a good market. FIU...all you've got is market. Indy is probably the future for you.
you just don't to pay your exit fees
USM should be begging someone to make their product better.
LaTech’s administration’s holier than thou attitude to the Sun Belt has cost them big time

If WKU thought begging or winning records worked we would be in the AAC

Ok, well I’m just stating the obvious. La Tech should be in the AAC over most of the schools that were invited (including Rice), but the fact that La Tech thinks it is better than the UL schools has dealt a devastating blow to the school. If not for that, La Tech would have been in the Sun Belt today.

the ULx twins are not why we didn't get an invite

I support finding landing spots for LA Tech, UTEP, FIU, WKU, & MT, and having all of the members leaving for the AAC and Sun Belt pay their full exit fee amounts to those five programs. I would much prefer that, than to watch y'all have to rebuild C-USA with the likes of Tarelton State. I want more for you than that.

Thanks Joe! Going to miss playing UNT in football and basketball. Good luck to you in the AAC.

Really? I thought LT burned their bridges with ULL and ULM. I'd really like to know what happened.

I'm sure UNT won't mind scheduling Tech in basketball and base....oh wait. j/k

I want UNT to keep scheduling LT in football, basketball, and softball. I love our games (even though y'all won most of them) and thought we were building a good rivalry in C-USA. I know UNT fans have a lot of respect for what LT does. We need to keep playing each other.

Really? I thought LT burned their bridges with ULL and ULM. I'd really like to know what happened.

Well, our baseball team was playing a double header scrimmage against ULM today in Ruston. We play both schools yearly in all sports except football. So a majority of what you hear about Louisiana Tech by those Sunbelt schools is just half-truths, and some outright lies. I don't want to re-hash all that stuff because it's just going to bring more trolls over here. If wanting the best for your school and working hard to achieve that is elitist, than I guess Tech is elitist.

LT does more than most and with less money. It really is incredible. I've never thought of LA Tech as elitist. Just very savvy. 04-cheers

We joined the WAC in 2001 instead of the Sun Belt.

We have not wanted to schedule a home and home in football with ULM, but had a game scheduled with them last season in Shreveport, but ULM cancelled due to COVID.

In 2012 we had a deal in place to play in the Liberty Bowl. The Independence Bowl gave us a deadline to say yes to play in their bowl vs ULM but we had been assured by the Liberty Bowl that we had a spot. The Independence Bowl moved on and invited Ohio and Liberty Bowl went back on their word and invited a 6-6 Iowa State.

Since the 2001 WAC/Sun Belt choice, we played home and homes in football vs ULL in 2003/04 and 2014/15 winning all 4 games and extending our win streak vs them to 8 games.

Our former athletic director talked smack in an interview about CUSA being better than the Sunbelt. He is currently an assistant AD at Vanderbilt.

We play ULL and ULM consistently in all sports outside of football. For instance, we played ULM twice last season in basketball, ULL once, and in baseball we played 2 games against each of them.

That's about it.

I'll never forget the game in Denton in 2018. One of the best G5 football games I've ever attended. Apogee was packed and the atmosphere was great. Tech always travelled well to Denton too. The basketball games between us were also epic. I was really enjoying watching the rivalry between our schools grow. I really hate what ESPN has done to college sports.

Of course every school wants what’s best for them, that doesn’t make them ‘elitists.’ But we have on record your AD clearly and unequivocally stating that guys consider yourself above everyone else in La., i.e., UL and ULM.

Given that AD’s speak for their admin, and most importantly their donors, that is the reflection of the thinking of the school.

Finally, since there has never been one scintilla of a retraction from the LTU admin to distance themselves from that statement it remains the official word of LTU. Even if that AD has very recently left the school.
LA Tech would be a favorite to replace Memphis in the American if they can hold out. Either Memphis and/or USF will be gone to backfill OU/UT. Who else could the American look at? Doubt they’d want another Carolina team. They’d want a metro team.

Let’s say the American grabs a GSU. Troy can move back East and LA Tech could come back in. That’s what I’d be thinking (and would try to expedite the timeline in anyway possible).

The Big 12 has to move by 23’ to get replacements in for Fall 25’.
