Football: I assume 3 home and 3 road vs division mates each year then 2 vs other division ( 1 home and 1 road). So that means 5 other division teams not played each year. Not sure how you would rotate playing the other division teams

Basketball: play 6 division mates home/home —12 games. Play 6 of the 7 other division teams once — 3 home and 3 away. That gets to 18 conf games. 1 opposing division team not played

Baseball: play 10 series (30 games). 6 division teams (3 home 3 away) plus 4 of the other division teams ( 2 home and 2 away)

Is that how it would work?
Basketball is probably divisionless. Five teams twice, eight teams once.
Do you set up let SEC with fixed cross rivals and then only see the other teams at home once every 8 years?
I am doubting fixed rivals. In football some kind of rotation where you play 2 of the 7 cross division teams each year. I get going to 14 but it sure makes it seem like 2 7 team conferences

That's exactly what it's like. I can't remember the last time Marshall played UTEP. If it weren't for basketball and the other olympics, you'd never know we're in the same conference.

Well in that regard you will play all 7 teams every 4 years. Could be worse. I mean best we can do is eventually go to 9 conference games and play everyone 3 years.
Football: 8 game schedule. One home cross and one away. Rotates on the third year with two new crossovers.

Ex:

2023 - MU @ TXST
UL @ MU

2024 - TXST @MU
MU @ UL

2025 - MU @ ULM
USM @ MU

Like that.

Basketball: We could do pod play to maximize NET. Or an 18 game schedule in which you play division mates Home and Home and cross div split 3-3.

I doubt it would set up like that, but perhaps.
Do you look at playing 9 SBC games or does that box in flexibility for OOC?

Nine screws everything up because of uneven home and away. No reason to do that when you can just play 4 and 4.

You’re also not going to find enough support at this time for teams that want their 4 OOC games.
Ten team conference, 9 makes sense. Anything more, no.
Arlington and Little Rock aren't gone. We will have 16 if we add 4.

Until/unless they join other conferences they are count.
New teams won t join til 2023. UTA and Little Rock gone by then
I’d much rather have 16 than 14. 4 pods of 4 where you play the 3 in your pod every year and 2 in each of the other 3 pods for a total of 9 conference games.
I've never really been a fan of the fixed rivalry games. I like the rotation the GaSoEagles mentioned

I think not letting rivals play is one reason WAC failed. You gotta play those games to help interest in your team. 16 is way to many.

If Troy moves West, there will be no need for Fixed rivalries in football...There won't be a single game with enough history to make it worth it.

Instead there will be a much bigger focus on Divisional rivalries and you probably will see a bunch of those games stacked near the end of the schedule...
All scheduling needs to have have teams play those from the other division as frequently as possible
I hope it’s a cyclical rotation with no set interdivisional opponents. As much as I’d love to play Marshall every year, I don’t want to do it at the cost of only seeing the other East schools once every forever.
