After a good night's sleep, I'm seeing some very scary parallels between the way we were treated and what the newbies are getting now.

I'm going to wait 2-3 years. Maybe there is something I don't see yet.
Tulane was blamed for the breakup of Big East, which I don't think was fair.

I welcome the new members. In time, other posters will welcome them also. It's still a big shock to some, give it time.
Justifiably so, as Tulane basketball has been an anchor for this conference since you joined. Tulane hasn't really done anything to quell the fears and I expect more of the same from our new members.

I am right beside you this time ONB. There is a lot of sky is falling going on, bu twhat makes this different from any previous versions of the Conference is by the time the moves are made there will be an expanded playoff. The conference will still be in a the best posisiton to get the G5 playoff spot. That makes all the difference in the world. The goal should be to be a 2-3 program in the new AAC than a middle-bottom program in the Big 12. Let's face it at this point USF, Tulane, Tulsa, and to a lesser entent Memphis would not go into the Big XII and compete for the top. UC and UCF are in good shape, but lets see how UH's "you get fired for 8-4 here(or whatever)" plays out as they will be in the bottom part of the Big 12.

Hunter is a good egg.

The Dunleavy hire killed us and the AAC by proxy. Luckily for your tournament hopes, we did buy out that bad contract.

Agree, Tulane unjustly borne the brunt of fan frustration and anger.

Yeah, the same poeple who say the Dunleavy hire was good also complain about what choices the school has made.
Tulane has come a long way, but lets be honest... yall were a head scratcher when added. Bball and Fball both sucked.

What you did have was amazing academics, a market we needed and enough fan support to build... which you did.

Almost all of the teams we just added dont have anywhere near your academics (minus Rice) and have little to no fan support nor the type of money it takes to build.

I just watched N Texas last game. Sunny, on a weekend... no reason for people to not show and I swear to god the only section with people was the band.

FAU is nearly a dead program walking. When they win they cant get anyone there and their markets sucks. Its Fins all day, then Da U and nobody after that. Their stadium makes UCFs bounce house look like it isnt a cheap erector set and all their other facilities are barely above hot garbage. Worst of all, their head coach is Willie Taggart. The same man who was on the edge of winning the AAC when he was hear, left for Oregon for 1 year, left for FSU, got fired and ended up there. The SECOND he gets anything better... and I mean Marginally better, he will be out and FAU will have to hope Lane Kiffin is available again.

Charlotte... No history, No fans, no winning and the worst airport in the world. USF was in the same conference with them for a long time and they could never build anything up. Football is new but the rest of the sports aren't and there's no real success. I actually like them but they are such a long term build, I am not certain why we are investing in them now, other then the fact we got them for $2 million.
Amazing what a good night sleep will can do; if all the reports are correct... as much as I personally believe Buffalo would have been a better add than Charlotte, the fact is Charlotte is here and Buffalo is not.

Charlotte probably brings the most upside in basketball potential, they were a basketball first school until football was needed to move forward... A UC, Louisville, UConn, and Memphis light if you will.

So that's what it's all about? Now I understand it. I feel you. It is hard to hit on a great hire and then lose him to a bigger school. We had gone through it with Kiffin. Heck, if Taggart does for us what he did for USF, I'll be ecstatic.

But, don't hate on our stadium (10-year-old) or the Athletic center (new just finished 2 years ago). They are just fine. if we get our bball gym and the baseball arena to the same level we'd be fine.
We still get it from cusa. We won a football title or two in the sun belt and cusa. I expect it here from some until we win and even after we win a football title or more. Just part of moving up and having a football program that started only 20 years ago

I don’t quite get some of the negative reaction toward FAU. When UCF was announced to B12 , I always felt FAU was the natural replacement in FL. I guess if USF recruits heavily around Miami they wouldn’t appreciate FAU being elevated.
I was at the Boca Raton bowl a few years ago & thought the stadium was comfortable & right sized for a G5 school.

If they can make good coaching hires consistently, I don’t see why they can’t be successful.

FAU already has nicer football facilities than usf, and I’ve been to your stadium before, it isn’t bad at all.

If it takes the new schools as long as it took Tulane to play in a bowl game, the disappointment that is being shown by many is has a sound basis in fact, particularly when one considers the fact that Tulane MBB hasn't finished above .500 since they joined the American.

Tulane is a great university, and so is Rice. It will be good to have as many AAU universities in the AAC 2.0 as there are in the ACC. The Big Ten has northwestern, the SEC, and the AAC has Tulane. All that is good. But you can't blame the fans of many of the 6 AAC remainers (Navy, Tulsa, Temple, ECU, Wichita State, and Tulane) for being dismayed by the news.

Speaking of Wichita State, I would expect them to join the Big East or MWC if they're able to. When Memphis and SMU join the Big 12, the AAC will be a less prestigious BB conference than the Missouri Valley Conference is.

I know you may be proud of your facilities. Ive been to them. I am trying to be nice when I say I wasnt impressed at all.

People point to USF renting. Id always rather rent a Rolls then buy a civic. FAUs facilities wise isn't equal to the 8 who are here. Not even close.

...you'll NEVER hear a disparaging word regarding FAU from me, after y'all curb stomped us in Kiffin's farewell C-USA title game back in 2019... I think we played our best game this season against y'all (although we had our typical box full of dumb penalties and a few goofy play calls)... with a few tweaks here and there, y'all can typically be a scary good team... 04-cheers

1. Never mind “fairness”, LOL. Connecting Tulane with the breakup of the OBE is just factually/objectively false. One had nothing to do with the other.

But as I said at the time: if people want to give Tulane the credit for driving the stake through the OBE’s heart, okay fine. You’re welcome.

2. Nothing against the new members, or their fans. I’m sure they’re good people. We’re still left with the fact that this proposed expansion is a huge step down for the league. I mean, it just is. Of course it is. Everyone who’s paying attention knows it. Fans and message-boards can’t change that.
We had the same thing but we all had common history so the hurty words never bothered me
