Ford has 704 yards and 12 TDS through 6 games this season. He is on pace for 1,414 yards and 24 TDs after the 12 game regular season ends-- plus whatever he gets if UC plays in the CCG and the bowl game. To put that in perspective, DeMarco McCleskey holds the school record for career rushing yards in a season at 1,361. He is on pace to shatter that. Michael Warren has the school record for most TDs in a season (19), he is on pace to surpass that. In fact, Ford's 12 TDs thus far has him tied for 7th in a season with Isaiah Pead and Des Ridder.
Great mention Clifton. I think what I appreciate the most about the kid is his quiet demeanor off the field doesn't impact his beast mode on the field. He has become our feature back and leaves no doubt. Speed. Vision. Power. Cutting/Footwork. Doesn't Fumble. All exceptional.
Clifton, it's funny you brought up this thread, bc I was thinking about it last night. Ford is on pace to shatter some school records this year, especially if he can get a couple more monster 150+ rushing games vs Navy and Tulane. Tulane is giving up 197 yards on the ground per game, and USF 227 yards per game (which is 4th worst in D1) Ford will have a shot vs some piss poor teams in the AAC to rack up big #'s. Just want him to stay healthy though.

Warren did have 19 rushing TD's, but also 1 receiving TD, for a total of 20 TD's in 2018.
I knew Ford was good, but when he sliced thru Georgia's D to take it to the house was very impressive.

Great player I really enjoy watching, and can't wait to watch him on Sundays.
Weren't some here worried about his fumbles last season? This guy is pretty amazing and another critical component of this machine that is rolling toward the CFP. Built Ford tough.
I'm most impressed with his speed. I had no idea he was that fast. He blasted right past UCF's DB's on Saturday for that long run.
The thing I love most about him is that he's not a prima donna back... on pass plays he consistently is a solid blitz pickup guy keeping Des safe. Doesn't show on the stat sheet but a huge piece of the passing game. Would love to see him catch a few passes too... IMO if a defense has to worry about him sneaking out to the flat that removes a potential rusher and gives Des another weapon
He seems to have great vision.

i was. He's shown himself to be a really tough runner in addition to the speed. i know RBs are viewed as a dime a dozen draft-wise but hopefully he catches the eye of some NFL scouts. Would love to see him go on day two.
Ford in this conference should be considered for POY. He has become a huge mismatch for non-power teams due to UC’s online advantage.

I think Navy always tries to stop the run so I am interested to see if he can get his numbers this weekend.
Jerome Ford is as talented of a running back as I've seen at Cincinnati. I'd put him right up there with Pead based on what he's doing this year. I think it can be argued he's the 2nd-most important player on offense next to Ridder. Looking forward to seeing his name shoot up some draft boards. I think he's almost a lock to get drafted at this point, but he could move up to the middle rounds if he continues on this pace and has some big moments late season.
Through the first six games Jerome Ford has 102 rushing attempts for 705 yards which is an average of 6.9 yards per attempt. He has twelve rushing TD's to go along with that. Four of the TD's were against UCF, he had a great day last Saturday!
During the broadcast Saturday, the broadcaster's quoted Denbrock saying, Ford was the most complete back he has ever had. That was moments before breaking off the 79 yard TD run.

Wasn't he considered one of the prime running backs as a frosh @ 'Bama - doesn't that say most, if not all, of it? What were the reasons for his leaving the Tide and coming here? Whatever, it's certainly great to have him!

RB depth and playing time had to be factors if he stayed at Bama. I'm sure it wasn't presented this directly but come to Cincinnati and have a good shot at playing in a NY6 bowl and to be our feature back if you put the work in.

This is exactly what was going through my mind. We've had other good ones but Pead and Ford have explosiveness not seen by guys like Warren and McClesky. At this point I'd still be a Pead guy but barring injury with our remaining schedule Fords going to put up some video game numbers. The thing that will likely keep Pead ahead for me is multiple years of being the feature back vs this likely will be Ford's only year as the #1.

Love him to learn from Michael Warren II and stay for a Sr. year and be a Heisman Finalist.

I think he is definitely good enough to have been in the rotation at Alabama, but he was never going to be the bell cow back. The most he was ever going to get at Alabama is probably 80-100 carries. I would imagine he is on par with the 3 guys they have splitting carries now, but probably not good enough to separate. He would have been stuck behind Najee Harris the past two seasons, and would be splitting carries with 2 or 3 of the guys in their rotation this year. Not knocking Jerome Ford because he's great, but he's not a Saquon Barkley/Ezekiel Elliot type of guy. I do think he can be a solid platoon guy in the NFL though, and is absolutely perfect for our offense.

People speak of size and explosiveness, but I haven’t heard anyone say vision. I think Ford’s ability to find that seam is comparable to Pead. In many respect’s he is a bigger, stronger and faster version of Pead. The one area I would give Pead an advantage is catching the call out of the backfield, but that is just because Ford has had limited opportunities (although he had a nice catch and gain this past week).
