Maine's homecoming game, record currently 1-4

Lost by 10 to Elon
Lost by 10 to Delaware
Lone win over Merrimack
Slammed by JMU 55-7!

Expect them to be better than their record indicates.

Might be a trap game.
Second Team All CAA QB, Joe Fagnano, suffered a severe high ankle sprain early in their second game at JMU. We're in the window of Fagnano's possible return. Ironic that his replacement, R-Fr Derek Robertson, was Darius Wilson's record setting predecessor at Iona Prep. Need to keep their big play WR, Andre Miller, under wraps.

We need to start fast and dictate their game plan. Early in the week, but a rainy day in the forecast up there. Davis Cheek ate them up on Saturday. Go Tribe!
High ankle sprains are tough. Feel like they're right up there with hammies on injuries that seem to linger.

You know we’re doing something when John O’Connor writes three pieces on our program within two days. RTD isn’t exactly known for mentioning W&M.

I's a tough trip to Orno. Here's hoping that we handle it well and school Maine. Go TRIBE!

Haven't had success there recently but the trip is pretty easy. Fly into Bangor and stay near airport with 15 min. bus ride to Orono. Now Colgate was a tough trip!
This current staff and a few players have only played at Maine once. That game, Maine threw all over us and our passing game was pathetic. They will look to light us up in air so our defense needs to tighten up, obviously. Our pass D has not played well. No sack for either side vs Elon; which, seems odd.

21 or more points and we’ll come home 5-1.

Attendance last week was a little more than 4,000 so it’s not like crowd noise will be a problem.

Ahh. Well, that makes it easy…they hosted us for HC in 2019 in front of 8,122 fans. Good size crowd.

I knew I shouldn’t have driven.

No, don't expect them to be better than their record indicates. They have not passed the eye test, and they rank statistically last, or near last, in almost every meaningful statistic.

That said, it could be a trap game if we don't take them seriously or we have miscues. But execute the gameplan and we get out with a comfortable victory.

Contradictory statements. If they arent "better than their record," why would it be so important to "take them seriously?" A 4-1 team should be able to beat a 1-4 team without such concerns if Maine were so horrible. I guess we will see Saturday.

Maine has played Delaware, JMU, Elon, Merrimack and MAC leading Northern Illinois. Merrimack kicked preseason Patriot favorite Holy Cross' butt. That's a tough schedule to date, especially with losing their All-CAA QB in the second game. They passed the eye test when I watched them against Delaware, and their replacement QB is only getting better and more comfortable. Hope our DB's are up to the task on WR Miller. They have been a penalty prone team. Let's hope that continues. Rhode Island and UNH will have their hands full later in the season. This will be a tough game on the road, but a chance to solidify that we belong.

That's the point I tried to make about Albany but it was disregarded. And then Albany came out and ran it down our throats. We had some luck and some self-made luck that turned them into a passing team with receivers out due to covid and using their 2nd string qb instead of the guy that lit us up in 2019. We can't take anyone lightly. Love the energy of this team. We need to dial it in. Just gets harder every week.
One year I'm gonna make the trip up to Orono but it won't be this one. Haven't won in Vacationland in over a decade. Last time we did in 2010 it took Mike Paulus coming on for Mike Callahan in the 4th quarter and three touchdowns in the final 13 minutes including a Dante Cook pick-six.

I remember that game well. That whole year was amazing. Not as great as 2009, but still a great regular season(with the exception of losing to JMU where they failed to complete a single pass). My spouse hasn't returned to JMU since. But, I have made several more trips to the House of Horrors since. Hopefully, I will get up there to see the new basketball arena this year.

A trip to Maine in the fall would be great. Hopefully, the Tribe will take care of business Saturday, but I am sure it won't be easy. No games this year are.

I tend to agree. We are entering this game with continued momentum, a little intensified from the UAlbany 2H comeback. So while I normally would be more concerned playing at Maine, I think we are riding momentum and still too early in our development to be cocky or complacent.

I’m thinking 31-14 or something like that though will take any win.
