Just saw a twitter clip of the ROTC students firing a cannon off at the OHIO-CMU game this week.

Wondering if NIU brought the cannon back? I remember the tradition had been sidelined for a bit - I heard blast after a touchdown during our last home game, but thought it might be fireworks?

If it's still absent we should petition for its return. Anybody know if we're using it again?
Toledo had a cannon and it was annoying af
We aren't. It's too close to the south party zone so it's gone for good.

Thanks U-Scout.

That sucks, it was a tradition for quite a while, wish they could relocate it just outside the endzone fence or the like.
They could always get rid of the PigDog in the north end zone and put the cannon there. While they’re at it, they can fire a real cannon ball at the PigDog.

Wasnt Mission afraid of the cannon of was that just a BS rumor?
The Columbus Blue Jackets have a cannon, it is loud as fucc indoors and opposing teams and players hate it.
They can always borrow the annoying Bears air raid siren.

I'm not sure about that, but plenty of dogs have sound sensitivity including our husky and one of our aussies. The husky is OK with loud noises like fireworks and the like, but certain sounds freak her out.
