We're going P5 while UConn is looking at dropping down to FCS where they belong.

The new B12 is going the same path as the old Big East. The P4 will find a way to squeeze them out.

The situation surrounding the Big East is very different than what has happened with the Big XII up to this point. The Big East essentially dissolved, and it was the loss of certain member institutions that led to it. Losing West Virginia, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Miami, and even Rutgers left that league with none of its original members when Power Conference status was established in the BC$ era.

The only way the Big XII loses Power Conference status is if the other power conferences expand and take a large portion of the BC$ 7 that still remains in that league. But as long as a reasonable representation of West Virginia, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Baylor are still in that conference especially now with Autonomy status established in 2016, that league is not going to lose it's place as an Power Autonomy Conference.

I don't know how different it is. It is very similar. Two top clubs leave then you have the "broadcast parter" actively conspiring with the raiding conference - ACC to ensure the demise. Add to that bad leadership who thought the product was worth more than it's actual value. Given at that time there were new competitors on the block (NBC and Fox). Add questionable additions (not going there) and you had the destruction of the OBE. Now you've got the two top clubs leaving. Leadership that has pissed off the broadcast partner and a shrinking pool of broadcast outlets. When the contract is up in four years you'll see exactly what value the NB12 has. Keep in mind that everyone in the conference will be looking for that golden ticket to the P4.

Except this time the Big XII has been legally and contractually declared an Autonomy 5 Conference that was approved by a 16-2 vote by the NCAA voting bodies back in 2016 that is a double stamp of affirmation of its position as a power conference. That conference will continue to send its champion to the Sugar Bowl as long as the remaining 8 members stay there. The only way that league ever loses its AQ qualifier to the NY6 bowls, is if it that conference dissolves. Period.

Besides being moved "off topic" the new B12 will discover what the market will pay. I can guarantee you it's not what they're making now.

You're right, but it's not going to be at levels that are so catastrophic that the Big XII loses it's Power Conference status and AQ qualifier to the Sugar Bowl. They still have brand power as well as legal and political power that will keep those state flagships and landgrant schools in that conference from losing what they have established. As long as they stay in the Big XII, that league will remain a Power Conference even if they lose money from CFP distributions or TV revenue.
