I know many of you don’t respect my opinion, but fellow Rocket fans, it’s time to speak the truth:
1) Our O line is just bad. Physically & mentally weak. You can’t even put lipstick on that pig.
2) Candle’s not head coaching material. The experiment, which was a lazy, misguided mistake by O’Brien to begin with, is over for all intents & purposes. Look at his record since the MAC championship—both overall & in MAC games.
3) No matter how much the D improved—and it did—NIU showed the perfect gameplay to beat Toledo (besides relying on the Rockets to beat themselves). Keep possession & pile up field goals. NIU had the ball for 40 minutes of the game today. 40. No D can keep up with that.
4) Bradley might be a decent QB somewhere else, but not in this offense with this O line. Time to let Finn be the guy full-time; let him practice more with the passing game so that maybe, in time, that improves.
5) Halfway point in the season…3-3…looking at the remaining schedule, I’m not confident I see 3 more wins the way we play.
6) Back to Candle: is he still calling the plays? Because most games now, win or lose, I find myself asking “I wonder what our game plan for today even was?”. This far into the season, why do we still have guys on offense who look lost on plays?
7) After that fake spike loss to WMU last season, you’d think the staff would have the players ready to focus on every play until the whistle…and then NIU converted on that 4th down trick play—half of our D had gotten out of their stance or started to clap their hands like they had done something great…when do we learn?
