Check out the NIU depth chart. 12 of our starting 22 players are freshmen. I saw Toledo only has one starting freshman on their starting 22. We have 1 senior and two juniors on our defensive depth chart. The other 19 players on the defensive 22 line-up are mostly freshmen and a few sophomores sprinkled in. Very young NIU team with 76% of the roster as freshmen.

NIU will be very good again. I have no doubt. I’m not sure what happened at NIU but in the MAC, and maybe all College football, all it takes is one bad HC hire to tank a program. Candle does have good talent. What could we accomplish if we actually had a really good coach. I like Candle. Hope he wins. The UT vs NIU rivalrY WAS 1.b. To BGSU. From 2002 to 2018 it was huge. So many great NIU players and teams.

Go Rockets!!
If anyone googles their press conference, its quite the watch. Hammock loves his young team. He seems to let them build the energy, and not care to talk much about what he feels is irrelevant. Almost in a dickish fashion. He doesnt answer injury questions and even says "im not even sure what youre asking?" at one point.

The players interviewed look on face value like D2 guys. But hey thats been NIU and Ball State for years. Im not sure Koback, Bryce and Tycen are scary off the bus for what its worth.

Stop the run. Protect the ball. This is a win.
