Looks like all cases will have timelines provided by Oct 11. Memphis has the oldest case pending.
There is talk that because of the long delay in what was designed to be a faster process there could be a re-looking at all things money to players because of the NIL structure now in place. Let's hope for that and resolution sooner than later, definitely not in Feb or March.

The NCAA is reeling a bit.
Haven't heard much from Forde and his "bag of rocks".
Have heard a couple of others say that in this climate, there won't be much to it.

Hoping there will not be - nothing shows that it will be. It shows the opposite based on what Ok State got with one Level 1 violation. 3 year probation, 1 year no ncaa and conf tourney and about 5 other sanctions.
The path that was chosen is for cases that are complicated or the most severe.

The verdict was "Yes definitely".
So the group that decides is the 14 person Independent Resolution Panel? Looking at that groups bio's, we should be okay. They maybe pissed that Wiseman came back to play for 3 games, but they'll probably let Penny's gift to the Wiseman family walk.

I agree though (and hopefully it's not just wishful thinking) that the Tigers should get off with at most a slap on the wrist.
With the way the Tigers athletic dept luck has been going lately, we’ll get the death penalty and Penny gets a lifetime show cause while Kansas and LSU walk away unscathed.

That's another great point. This started 7 months before the season started, when you said he was eligible, then maybe not but you were clearing him, and now still no decision. Likely ineligible means get back to us when you have a decision.

The most ridiculous thing about all of it is that Penny self reported the moving expenses when he became the Memphis coach as per the rules.
Penny paid a lot of minor fees for a lot of kids because he could but the situation benefited the high school he was coaching (and ironically UK).
When it all went down he was going to send wiseman to Kentucky.
If Penny had not reported as per our compliance department who knows what would have happened
Memphis played Wiseman 3 games before sitting him. At the most, the NCAA should mandate Penny miss 3 games. That would be the reasonable thing to do but this is the NCAA.

At least we don't have Lipman as Counsel, RC Johnson as AD and Shirley Raines as President representing us against the NCAA.

The real point is the other cases were far more serious than a "booster" AAU coach paying for a players move so he could play for his AAU team (happens every day) then a couple of years later becomes the Memphis coach, tells the NCAA, they have questions, but clear him, then go back and say he might be ineligible an hour before game time.
Compare that to actual college coaches paying current players, school boosters putting families up in mansions, fake classes, etc, etc, etc.
We'll get hammered.
To me, this whole thing of Penney paying moving expenses when Wiseman was in high school and Penney was a high school coach is nothing to do about nothing. But because Memphis has the chance to contend for the national championship, we’ll get hammered. The logic behind the charges even being investigated boggle my mind. I’m sure some NCAA dude is upset because Memphis (and Wiseman) didn’t bark when ordered to do so.
I think it'll be a slap on the wrist. The NCAA is crumbling and cannot afford anymore bad PR. Can you imagine the backlash if they hammer Memphis after all this time? Remember when all the talking heads slammed them for the Wiseman decision? This will be MUCH worse. Because they'll be indirectly punishing guys like Duren and Bates who just signed. Questions will arise about why they didn't do this a month ago to give those guys a chance to play somewhere else. Plus, they'll be robbing America of the best college bball story of the year. Not to mention they'll jeopardize the future of college bball. If other big recruits see this, more of them might say F it and just go G League or Overtime Elite.
Not saying the NCAA always does the prudent thing, but they'd be wise to make this punishment light. If they hammer us, they will get hammered as well.
I think the penalties be non substantial and will likely come out after the season.
While it is not subject to appeal they will make a recommendation first to which we will be able to respond to...so there are still some procedural issues that should let us get through this season.
I think Penny gets benched a few games, and we maybe forfeit the games Wiseman played in.
We have already served our penalty for most of this anyway. The NCAA has bigger things to worry about imo
