Hey....we landed on the moon!
Was incredibly unlikely anyway. Any other MWC teams worth poaching? Probably not.

Guess that means an invite is coming to UAB at the very least.
posted this on expansion board....

Will be interesting from here for Aresco....

1) Does he just add AF and CSU and be done at 10?
2) Does he add AF, CSU, UAB be done at 11? Or go to 12 with UTSA or similar?
3) Does he continue his pursuit of more western MWC schools....Wyoming, NM, Fresno, UNLV, Nevada, Utah state, etc.
4) Does he even get AF and CSU?

I am hoping for more western expansion or AF, CSU, UAB and be done at 11.

** Side note...this probably means Boise has handshake agreement with B12. Which would also be good news for Memphis (and maybe USF, SMU). I anticipate that happening within next 12 months.

Completely disagree on the handshake agreement. SDSU wouldn’t have any incentive to stay in the MWC in that scenario. The dollars probably just don’t make sense for SDSU given the travel issues. BSU wants its sweet heart deal in an inferior conference they can beat up on.
I wasn't aware of an invitation to go elsewhere? Go AAC!!

Boise thinks they are going to Big 12. Nothing else. There have been discussions. If they didn't think that, they would gone to AAC to guarantee they are in the best of rest conference.

SDSU may think they that have shot at Big 12 too (but haven't heard them discussed) or maybe PAC 12. No idea what SDSU is thinking.
UAB, you’re on the clock!

Up Next: Army

(My hope is that FAU somehow sneaks in)
The AAC will add AF,CSU,UAB and UTSA.

EAST
Temple,ECU, USF, Memphis,Tulane, UAB
WEST
Air Force, Colorado State, UTSA, SMU, Tulsa, Navy/ Wichita State

Let’s move on until the next moves whenever they happen.
This is the same mistake Boise and San Diego made years ago when they received the invite from the Big East/AAC.

If they would have moved back then they would already be part of the strongest conference outside of the P5 and in a stronger position than they are now.

They are far from guaranteed an invite from the Big 12 anytime soon. They should position themselves better now as there are no other guarantees down the line.

Agreed, maybe later San Diego State will replace Memphis.

Just based on some things happening, and some verification from media I trust, won't be shocked at all if the #Big12 offers #BoiseState and #GoTigersGo. And it may not be that much longer, as TV partners advice going a long way. #ConferenceRealignment American footballBasketball

Becoming apparent that the #AAC and #MWC, both getting raided by the #Big12, will have some sort of merger, as MWC now being raided by AAC. It's called the "Food Chain".

So are we taking UTSA because they are better option than Rice/FAU or to weaken the MWC replacement pool as they are heavily rumored to be favored along with NT to be MWC candidates?

I like the choice, but honestly I could flip a coin between them & FAU & be happy either way, would probably prefer UNLV but not sure they were part of this round’s process as only place they have been mentioned is on message boards from fans.
Aresco could stay at ten or go to 12 and wait on PAC 12 raid plus CFP fate. We're firmly placed at number 6 conference and a year gives Army time to make up there mind. Go AAC!!

My first thought is that I hope CSU and AFA are still on board.

With that said, this news is not surprising. If they are smart, the other MWC teams will use this as leverage to end Boise State’s special treatment.

If we can get Army for football, I would be ecstatic. I don’t think that will happen so I guess we’ll see who #12 will be (we already know that #11 will be UAB).

It will be UTSA (if no Army). I am 90% certain of that. San Antonio has a large military presence and is in a recruiting hotbed. It will be them.

We could still wind up going to 14 or even 16 teams. I think the best targets would be:

App
Marshall
FAU
Louisiana

I would imagine that ODU and Charlotte are on “serious-contender” lists as well.

Exciting times!

I picked them because there has been talked of another Texas team and San Antonio has a large armed forces population which would make it attractive to AF and Navy and it would probably be one of the MWC few choices to replace AF and CSU. Cut their possible future additions.

Is BSU on tract to be a R1 school soon? I know Memphis is anticipated to achieve that in next review cycle & are constantly criticized academically for not having it now. I feel like that is a bigger obstacle than most people realize when trying to move up if you don’t already have it.

Yep, I think it’s a 2 birds with 1 stone scenario too. Probably best choice by itself without the MWC trickle down effect.
