Now just need a UTA and UALR announcement.
Does that close the door on UTA to the MVC?
I would expect Murray State to jump to the MVC as well. Not sure what that might mean for UTA and UALR.
I wonder if the OVC contacts Little Rock and UTA

I bet they will. The question is how will that pair respond?

Leaving a healthy SBC for a dying OVC doesn't seem like a good idea. Maybe the MVC goes for Belmont, Murray, UTA and UALR and makes it 14?

Maybe the OVC is the shell that you eastern CUSA schools need to make your regional eastern conference dream a reality. Marshall, WKU, MTSU, ODU, Charlotte, UMass, Liberty and S. Miss to the OVC means 8 FBS teams so you can be a FBS conference. Invite JMU as a full member, keep 3 to 5 orginal members as non-football and then add UConn as football only and boom you got a 10 team FBS conference...with no TV deal and no CFP money but you got your wish at this point.

So in summary 12 to 14 full members - 10 for football with UConn as a football only but a tighter footprint than you have today. P.S. please don't forget to send my consulting fee when you make this happen...OK.

If we only expand by 2 I wouldn’t mind keeping them as just adjusting travel partners as needed for olympic sports.

Agreed. We should protect Texas State for Olympic sports, and this is a way to do so.

I appreciate that. As a UTA fan I really want to stay in the SBC, but I understand that the Sunbelt wants to concentrate on Football, and we do kind of make that more difficult. I hope the sunbelt doesn't kick us out, but if they do , man will I miss the baseball in this league.
I hope UTA sticks around

The term trave partner is misleading

Texas State doesn't benefit from a close school other than having an easy bus trip conference rival. All of the rest of the conference benefits from there being a second school within a few hours away in order to keep travel costs and time in athlete's schedule down.

Case in point, AppState WBB plays South on December 30 and then Troy on January 1. Two conference games down in one trip.

I understand that, but a travel partner also creates a natural rival, and if you remember before Coastal came in, we had some schedules that worked against us, where we’d get well rested teams coming to Boone (or we’d lose out on some Saturday home games). Of course, we were so mediocre to bad it didn’t really matter, but it didn’t help matters much.
