I remember in 1990’s App players entered under some Marshall fans and they poured drinks all over them.

This stuff can be avoided with proper planning. Unfortunately we aren’t going to stop stupid college kids from acting inappropriately but we should attempt to limit their access to be jackasses.

Spoke to a few Herd fans as we exited and thanked them for coming and wished them well the rest of the season.

The visiting team entrance is not near any seats. The visiting team enters from the Facilities Building at the north end zone. There are no seats in that area.
I just wanted to stop in and tell the Marshall faithful that they have a solid team and program! Last night may have been the best G5 game I’ve watched in years. Best of luck moving forward and keep grinding!
I guess my friends on the football team in the mid-90s misremembered getting drinks poured on them.
Heck of a game. Both programs did themselves proud.
Great game Marshall! Loved watching you guys compete with us. Much Respect.

We need to do this every Year! Best of luck going forward.
A couple of stats that jumped out at me...

App had 39 first downs and an extremely balanced attack with an identical 283 yards rushing and passing.

Great game. I wanted to go to bed earlier but the game was to engaging to stop. Marshall needs to work on that red zone offense
Last night's game was a perfect example of why it makes sense to divide up CUSA and the Sunbelt along regional lines. G5 schools have to play games that fans care about. The only future there is for mid-major programs is in collecting basketball credits and selling tickets. It's all about capitalizing on regional appeal. Television money has dried up, and we'll rarely make the CFP. We have to find our own formula for success.

I don't know about this specific incident, but I've been to Huntington so....yeah. I won't even get started on Statesboro or the SEC venues. Penn State was 99% awesome fans 1% jerks, including the guy who cussed me out in the grocery store getting beer at like 10 in the morning LOL.

Well, let's think about that...you have one timeout and little time left. App either runs out the clock (which happens anyway), or you let them score with as much time left as possible to have a chance.

The real issue with that play was that yall didn't sell it. Yall parted the seas to let him score, which allowed him to think about what's happening and slide. A little more bumping and he might have run right into the end zone.

All that said Appy coach certainly told his team do not score under any circumstance.

Well, he is right. In the Joan, the visitors entrance isn’t near stands. BUT, if they were thinking of old Fairfield, then that is a completely different story.

It's funny, because Huff told them to let App score.

I wonder if they talked about that after the game.

Personally, I was surprised Huff didn't go for it on 3rd and 16. At the worst, you tell Wells to throw it on a rope, short of the receivers, and try to draw a pass interference call. The defense was gassed by half time because Huff hasn't yet figured out that he doesn't have the same depth that Alabama does and you can't just run tempo for 60 minutes on offense. I mean you could, but it doesn't work out against teams who can run well.

I'm surprised at the number of people who thought App would win this game handily though. Marshall is not rebuilding based on anything I've seen from them this season. They have depth, they have a Top 25 defensive line, they have probably a legit Top 25 team offense, and they have the mentality to win and win big.

The coaching staff just needs to figure out that sometimes you have to take the air out of the ball and run. Ali was running good, Wells was connecting on almost everything he wanted. LEANNNN on that offense and Ali man.

Scott Satterfield figured out in 2014 that going tempo and throwing the ball 45 times a game wasn't the way to go. That resulted in a change to what you've seen out of App for the past 6 seasons. Play offense to help your defense, complimentary football.

If Huff manages to make this change before the end of the year, I think Marshall should be a shoe in for the C-USA Championship Game.

This is 100% a rebuilding year for us....it just so happens we can still compete for championships while rebuilding.

This rebuild is honestly more of a culture thing than anything else, and those are usually the hardest ones to change.

I agree. Great ball game. Grate effort from both sides.

Yea, I can't see how that could happen at Edwards Stadium. Thinking his dates are off a couple of years and those guys were talking about old Fairfield. I personally witnessed lot of stuff going on in old Fairfield back in the 80's. Still, one incident doesn't justify the other and what happened 30 years ago doesn't excuse what went on last night. There were repeated warnings to our AD that having visiting teams walk through our fans was a terrible idea. It wasn't a question of IF but WHEN an incident was going to happen. Hopefully they learned a valuable lesson and are taking appropriate measures to ensure it doesn't happen again. Anyway great game. Felt like old times again. Hope the conference thing works out.
Very good game and great atmosphere. The AAC could do a lot worse that inviting both Marshall and App St.
