Would the B12 possibly require Boise St to remove the blue field as terms for possible future admittance? Thoughts? I seem to remember the MWC ALMOST requiring this, but maybe I was wrong.

I'd be all for it. I hate the gimmick turf.

Yeah. I doubt any P5 conference wants the blue field.
Would love to have Boise as a conference game but that turf has got to go. Hurts to watch on TV.

IIRC, MWC never insisted they drop the blue turf. Just that they'd stop wearing blues at home. And MWC folded on that demand when negotiating the terms of Boise's return from the Big East.
I like the blue turf but it will need to go. I think it’s gimmicky and screams something similar to someone holding onto their teenage years as an adult. If you want to move up and be considered an adult, you need to drop your childish ways. If you’re okay with being considered on par with a teenager, then by all means continue doing what you’re doing.
How long have they had it? I think if it was only a few years old they’d probably pressure Boise to remove it, but it’s been around long enough that I think everyone accepts it.

Installed in 1986.

My wife and I are big UCF fans and I've enjoyed watching the Broncos over the years as a general college fan, however she literally gets migraines from the Boise blue field so she refuses to ever watch Boise if they are playing at home. We were even planning to take a trip out to Boise for the UCF game in 2024 but she's changed her mind on that because she doesn't want to go and get a migraine in the stadium. I get that. Personally I don't mind the blue except when they wear all blue from head to toe it's difficult to watch on TV as they completely blend in to the field.

I’m going on record saying the Big XII doesn’t add until they lose another team.

Actually was installed in 1986 when they were still D2. I was thinking it was around the time they moved up to FBS in the 90s but boy was I wrong. Had it for 35yrs now. It's a huge part of their identity I'm sure and the lure of watching Boise St games. The stadium is ok the smaller size too, wonder if that will be a hindrance in the Big 12. If they didn't suck so bad I'd think Colorado St would be a shoe-in who has a perfectly beautiful stadium and is a much closer and cultural fit for B12 legacy members.

I thought it was mid 90s, about the same time the Humanitarian Bowl was created. 86 is even more insane.

Right, I've never watched a Boise St game on green turf. It would be really weird at first. Maybe they should do all blue chair back seats or something, or all blue buildings/structure with the exposed concrete (sorta like Florida does with all the concrete painted orange at The Swamp). There are creative ways they could maintain a massive blue presence while removing it from the field surface. Solid blue endzones, larger blue logo at midfield, paint all the buildings and pressbox, etc.

I remember when geese were diving into it, like it was water.

LOL

Congrats on Fresno States impressive win. Fresno State should be ranked after this weekend.
You’re adding BSU for their national brand value and the first thing you do is force them to abandon a key element of that brand?

That wouldn’t be too bright IMHO.

Exactly. The TV executives who’d be pushing for Boise would not want this.

It's High School BS. But hey, that's Boise CC.

Agreed. If the value is only because of the field color, I guess Coastal Carolina and Eastern Washington have just as much value also.
I’m okay with the smurf turf but I’d enact the original MWC condition that they aren’t permitted to wear solid blue at home—their uniforms must contrast with the field.

Boise weaseled out of that condition when they played the AAC and MWC against each other.
