Ok the only offensive plays I have seen the last three years have been Inside Zone Run that usually gets bounced outside and an RPO sprinkled in. Fade to the outside receiver, bubble screen to the slot, and slant to the outside receiver.
We did add some power run tonight (center pull) but what I am getting at is the passing game is very basic.
As soon as I write that… Coach calls a great drive using none of those plays. Crow eaten.
Again, we could’ve and should’ve won this game. We coached scared at the end.
Maskill and his misfit toys are going to embarrass us in October.
We seem to be going backwards since mid 2019. Our team that opened that season at SFA would dismantle this ‘21 squad.

I am starting to see a trend with Whitten on finishing games. Its like he nuts up and gets nervous. Pardon the expression it was used years ago when I played.
This goes all the way back to final year of D2 and maybe before that in big games. I thought he would find a groove and it wouldn't be as much of a problem. Now, I'm starting to wonder.

Well, to cut the staff some slack it is probably harder to recruit and even get fired up when you are playing for nothing but pride. Its very hard to come through transition and still have your HC job. Most coaches don't. Complacency sets in.
I don’t disagree that it’s pretty hard to recruit and etc. He went extremely aggressive with the go ahead drive to three and out off three basic run plays on the next. Frustrating. We are young and have a lot to work on.
We have the talent to compete at the FCS level, but I’m not sure we have the talent to win at the FCS level. We are young and in need of a couple more recruiting classes.
