Mississippi State has beaten Memphis the last 12 games although we have not played them in the last 9 years.

Memphis State had good success from 1962 to 1993 going 10-13 against the Bulldogs. I have no doubt if we had been playing them with the teams of the last decade we would have put up additional wins.

Interesting stats… sounds like we have been more competitive in the past 30 years of playing…. I was there for the win in Starkville in 93

Dan Mullen's teams were pretty damn good...so I dunno. He also had Dak Prescott for some of their most memorable years in recent memory.

Wasn’t that the year of the 0-3 start, the walk out, then we went on to beat Arkansas, Ole Miss and State?

Memphis has beaten Miss State 11 times ever. I've seen three in person.

Maybe a a player. He was the head coach in one of the 11 wins against them.
.
I still remember Memphis beating the Bulldogs at Scott Field in Starkville with Danny Sparkman at QB & Derrick Crawford going wild.

Sophomore Danny Sparkman passed for two touchdowns and Don Glosson kicked three field goals Saturday to boost Memphis State to a 30-13 win over Mississippi State

Pretty good game prediction.

After the game, the 2-0 Bulldogs will settle into one of the most difficult conference schedules in college football, beginning with LSU on Sept. 15.
I don't think we get to 44 but we can win.

Just hoping this is not a repeat of that Missouri game a few years ago as another poster suggested in a different thread.
If I remember correctly, our first win against a $EC team was when we beat them in the early 60's.

Love the comments

The crowd will be split- no it will not, Moo will have a nice number of fans, as we would down there, but it will not be split. Moo will have a lower percentage of fans than Alabama has when they play in Starkville

If Memphis gave up 50 to ASU then Moo will etc
Transitive property at its worst
Ignores the weirdness of that game too when the Memphis defense played well for nearly three quarters before being awful and done late

Moo can win and maybe all things being equal should

But we are not playing Alabama and they are not playing Maine

1962 in Starkville.
The game I remember was played in a rainstorm and the water coming down the steps in the LB was like a waterfall. Tigers won that one 6-3. Never was so wet at a game.

"The game drew a crowd of 48,832 - near capacity for Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. In one of the season's finest efforts, the Tigers silenced the cowbells and sent Mississippi State fans back to Starkville with nothing to cheer about. The Tigers' 21-13 victory was MSU's first win over the Bulldogs since 1965."

I was there too...and perhaps lots of people found out about Issac Bruce.
Only time I saw the Tigers in Starkville was 1985. We had a 28-14 lead mid 4th quarter and lost on a last second field goal 31-28. This was probably the game where the administration decided Rey Dempsey wasn't our guy.
