Discuss.
It seems like a generic statement. Sun Belt made one very similar after OU and Texas announced they were going to the SEC. It could mean they have no interest in breaking up for the AAC though.

They are 1) planning on getting raided by the AAC , 2) planning on raiding the AAC, 3) trying to poach Gonzaga, or 4) just putting out feelers.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing

My quite sure how to take that.

Could be a defensive statement but it could also be an offensive one of they wanted to go after a Gonzaga again
Translation: We will pursue Memphis and SMU, who will not be interested.
would not put much into this statement, one way or the other.
I’m sure they had to put a statement out. A lot people don’t know there are a lot of behind the scenes discussion going on. The MW is looking at various scenarios I’m quite sure.

Add Gonzaga, but yea. Now's the time for the them to go after the Zags and/or get into Texas with SMU + 1. They may not be successful on either front, but gotta try.

Gonzaga isn’t interested now that they got what they wanted from the WCC.

The calculus changes when you go from having 4/16 conference games that are high-profile to 2/16.
The references to “assessing options” for “continued growth” sound like lawyerspeak for “we can’t legally solicit new members but if anyone out there is interested in joining give us a ring now and we’ll listen.”

Maybe not, but the second-best team in the conference left, so now's the time to check in on how they're feeling.

Not really. That means more high profile OOC games.
Best analysis I've seen. Gets right down to the deepest meaning of this:

Translation: "no comment"

But look how many words and how many paragraphs to say just that. This is a masterpiece in bureaucrat speak.
Dunno what the MWC is going to do.

What I might do, what they could do:
Add SMU and Rice.

You get the Central Time Zone, you get Houston access, DFW access. You add travel, but both schools are close to the big airports (by college sports standards).

Maybe get SMU a loan for the $10M AAC exit fee, SMU pays the MWC back $500,000 a year for 21 years or something.

And you cut the AAC off at the knees, establishing the MWC as the clear #6 conference.

If the AAC presidents are thinking like posters here and start pushing atlantic seaboard and appalachian schools, then Memphis SMU and USF will be long gone.
It's absolutely nothing let's try not to over-analyze this.

2 games against BYU will be replaced by 2nd games against bottom tier WCC teams

If I were Gonzaga I would push for the NCAA minimum of 14 conference games
MWC should try to poach SMU to be it's 12th full member and then (at the risk of sounding like DavidSt) offer NDSU a football only invite to balance out Hawaii. 12 full members, 14 for football and the two new adds are solid and would compete for the top of the conference on day one.

You make a run at SMU, Memphis, Tulane, and either Rice or UTSA. UTSA as a long term play or Rice as the price for SMU.

Three with solid programs and recruiting bases in markets of the central time zone. One to round you out gets a second TX market team

Also absolutely add Gonzaga or Wichita in non-fb.

Basically make yourself the next best league in both major sports after the Big 12.

Rice would be a weak sister but you’d have taken two of the AAC’s best remaining programs leaving USF, Tulsa, ECU, Temple, and maybe Navy behind.

However that's only if those two want in.

Aside from that you make a run at Gonzaga and/or Wichita.
