UT men's basketball is the best team in the conference, according to College Sports Madness. The Rockets come in at #65, with Ohio at 73 and Buffalo at 87.
I picked up my copy of Athlon sports magazine from my local CVS and they have the rockets predicted to finish 3rd in the conference behind Buffalo and Ohio, also they have Ryan rollins listed as the conference best nba prospect and 1st team all conference, they have Josh mballa from Buffalo winning player of the year
Probably no stretches there? OU getting some ranked recruits. Hope our diamonds in the rough keep up.

Mballa is still there? Dude is like 40 years old!

The loss of AJ Edu this season is going to have a negative impact on our interior defense, especially going against "Bigs" like Josh Mballa and Ohio's Dwight Wilson III. Hopefully Milner and Shumate can hold up and we get some defensive rebounding help from our guards like we did last season with Jackson and Rollins!
Afraid we'll be back to a middle of the pack team w/o Edu and our 3 pt game from last year. Hoping for better. Go Rockets!

I think their are several tiers in the league:

1) Ohio, Buffalo, Toledo

2) Akron, Bowling Green, Ball State, Kent State

3) All others.

The key group is that second group. Those teams are unknowns in terms of overall talent, but led by coaches who generally put together competitive teams on the whole, and title contenders when it all comes together.

Count on at least one of those teams to rise up in some fashion. If more than one the league should be very strong.

Finally ... of the teams not mentioned, would not be surprised if Western Michigan makes a jump of some sort this season.

BG should prob be the favorite. They got plowden back, diggs back, that budding pg matheny, fields, fulcher, all their bigs and then they added 3 veteran wing players-all good- plus the starting pf from old dominion transferred in. probably will play small unless swingle has a breakthrough year in the post, but lots of depth and talent 1-4.
