I don't believe a single sports reporter from the Tri Cities was in Nashville for the Vandy game. I realize these are tough days for traditional media, but I would have hoped there would have been more commitment to covering the Bucs. Is my observation about media coverage correct?

I would hope that the reason would be Covid related. There is really no excuse beyond that.

Don’t know if Joe was in Nashville or not, but I think he does a good and genuinely knowledgeable job of covering ETSU athletics — certainly football and basketball. The modern JCP coverage of Bucs sports is a major shift, as far as I am concerned, from the old days of all the leading headlines that of UT this and UT that. Don’t know about the local TV sports. Of course everything has changed since my younger days, actually revolutionized with college sports coverage.

This is the kind of story I was looking for. Thanks for the link. I, too, remember the days when the job of JC Press Sports Editor included all-expense paid travel to every UT football and basketball game.
Heard Kenny on the Monster say that they would definitely be sending a crew down, because sure enough, ETSU would win and they wouldn’t have anyone there. Their camera footage was from the sidelines, so it’s safe to say WJHL was there.
I had hoped that when the JC Press and Times News merged that a better paper would emerge. I was wrong to even hope for that.
wcyb says they are to broke to go to road games. i asked them this summer about local college coverage. they cant afford to go on the road for any socon games either

Yep, it's a *real* bad scene there. Skeleton crew. Tough business, but the Six Rivers guys knew that when they jumped in.
