Hello to all you crazy people on the other side of the mighty river.
Since the last time UofM was in Jonesboro was 2012, and many things have changed since then, here is the updated information for those of you making the 1 hour drive over. (From Campus to Campus, its roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes depending on traffic in both cities)
Covid Restrictions In April of 2020 Arkansas ended all Covid restrictions state wide. The current state policy is that people should make their own informed decisions about the health of themselves and their families. Masks are generally required in all schools and health care facilities state wide with no opt outs allowed at choice of business. AState's mask policy applies only to academic areas of campus. Athletic complex is exempt. Masks are not required anywhere in the stadium, and be aware, they will most likely not be worn.
Tailgating: Allowed in any parking lot except for the Embassy Suites. (Only hotel guests) It is first come first serve and free provided you arrive prior to 3 hours before kickoff. If you plan to arrive after 3pm, you can tailgate in any free lot, however to access the lots closer to the stadium to tailgate, you'll be required to pay. Lots are manned beginning at 3pm by police officers. If you are already parked by 3pm, you are not required to pay, provided you don't move your vehicle.
Alcohol: No open containers. Keep beer in cups and out of cans and bottles. Remember Craighead county is a dry county, alcohol is not sold in gas stations here city wide. You must purchase before you get here.
Restaurants: There are many suggestions both chain and local. Several are on Red Wolf Blvd on your way in to campus, others are located downtown if you don't mind driving a few minutes.
Just a note: Bring Cash. I know Memphis has moved away from Cash at athletic events city wide the last two years for some strange reaso, but parking here is cash only, and any food truck and vendors in parking lots only accept cash as well. Football concessions take Cash or card as usual
Safe travels for anyone making the trip. Normally we'd sell this out, but Covid has destroyed most everyone's attendance this year, so I have no idea what to expect. My guess is 20K or so.
