Haha. I knew they were going for two02-13-banana
No more moral victories 03-nutkick04-rock
Ballsy call.
I'm sure Frazier already has. It just won't get announced until a year later after the media has figured it out.
When on the road, you go for it.
What a difference a year makes, and all this young talent. Can’t help but be excited for the future of NIU football!!!

That and considering how NIU struggled in most of the second half, there was no guarantee they were going to win this in OT. They already had the benefit of two replay calls. No sure thing they were going to get any more with an ACC crew.

Had they failed to convert, it still would've been the right call, regardless. What did they honestly have to lose other than a non-conference road game?

After last year and after last night, I'm not entirely sold that NIU Football is back. Tech blew it. They missed three field goals and passed up a easy field goal that could've changed the momentum of the game. Next week will be far more telling.

Goes to show what Hammock and staff were able to develop with a full offseason to prepare.

I looked up our roster -- 87 of 114 players are freshmen. We have the potential to be good for a while if this is just the start of our winning ways again.

I have to agree here. I’m stoked for the win and not diminish it but it was one game and NIU had a lot break it’s way. Plus with a young team you always worry about a let down after a big win. Wyoming struggled with an FCS team in the opener so hopefully NIU comes out ready and keeps it rolling. Big first step back to respectability in football though.

NIU had some huge bad breaks as well. Scoop n score, muffed punt. Not to mention injuring that terrible first string qb so the back up could get in the game and really ball.

All I needed to see was Lombardi looked every bit the part. D-line and O-line are good. With those 3 things I’ll take my chances week in week out. 6+ wins seems completely realistic
Huge step forward, what we all wanted to see, a lot of football left. Beat Wyoming, we owe those cowboys a good butt kicking.

Yes sir, time to revenge NIU's loss some seasons ago against Wyoming. They are definitely owed one.
Ham has put together a very talented roster and the future is so bright with so may young guys.

So, would you rather be a Huskie (Ham) fan or a Temple (Carey) fan (after they got destroyed by mighty Rutgers) this morning? That is a rhetorical question!

Lol no.

You are one of the biggest haters on the board. Swallow the load and move on.

This team was down, on the road, to an ACC team and they came back and won. Poise, composure, and all of the hyperbole. They earned it.

This is a good team. They lose 2 or 3 of their starting DBs and still won? Depth and talent.

Coach made the right call going for 2. Great coaching.

You were wrong about everything you cried about. Again. Swallow it. Move on.

TAP22 is a Rod man. Rutgers dropped 61 on his man, and Hammock beat an ACC team on the road.

Surprised he showed up to post more nonsense.

Yep, totally right man I am a hater. I want nothing more than to see Hammock fail and NIU to continue to suck. That’s why I have kept my season tickets for longer than you have even been following NIU. How is that for loyalty to the program?

Georgia Tech was a great win and boneyard wins are always program defining so it was absolutely a big night for NIU. I also know it’s a long season, and unless you are ready to call NIU going 13 - 0 this season, there are lot of games left to be played and you have a team that is still growing into a winner. We will see how they come out next week after a big win.
Wyoming is a better team than Georgia Tech with a far superior coaching staff. We need to play a lot better than we did in Atlanta.

Not true. I don’t need to go 13-0 to claim this season is a success.

I do need just this game to state the program Is better than it was, and is on a fantastic trajectory.

The team is so young there will be mistakes, but you have to be blind with love for Rod to say that this program is not better and trending up.

What are you basing that on? Wyoming had to come from behind for a 3 point win over FCS Montana State yesterday...

Plus, I agree that the coaches saw what the O can do when they open it up. I mentioned in the prediction thread that this would be a better team by the mid-season and I'm sticking with that. I wouldn't be surprised if the old saying about the most improvement coming between the first and second games applies and we see a marked improvement in the O against Wyoming.
I never predict scores ... it's just not my thing ... but I can realistically see NIU going into MAC season 3-1. Agree with NILAW. This week my bet is Hammock & Co. hammer away at the wrinkles, stretch a few ideas and add in a few more plays. Like to see more RBs get in the game; too much to put just on Waylee. Glad to see Ratkovich score at the end. And hope Lafayette gets on the mend quickly.
