No streaming of today's game, but the Rockets must have played much better, beating Marshall in 4 sets. Alt led the Rockets with 17 kills.

Rockets head into MAC play at 9-3
Rockets opened the MAC season tonight, and well... that was an hour and a half of my life I won't get back. They loose in straight sets to 0-11 Ohio. Yes, they were 0-11. Now, they played a tough schedule, but only won 8 sets in 11 matches. But tonight the Rockets made them look like they were 11-0. No chemistry at all on the team. Error after error. Bad set after bad set. Poor defense. Not really much of anything positive to say at all. If this is how they play the rest of the season, they may not win a match. Sad. OU looked to be so much better coached, despite their record.

Yeesh...that's not confidence inspiring...
Well, surprisingly, UT came back today for the 2nd match and beat OU in 3 sets. Might have to watch the replay of that to see how they turned it around from last night.
Strange evening at Savage as the Rockets beat Kent in straight sets, two of the sets not being close. This despite the Rockets hitting an anemic .087 for the match, and Alt hitting negative (-.138). Kent looked all out of sorts for large parts of the match and hit negative as a team (-0.048). Strange. But a win is a win I guess. At least the Rockets defense did look better than the match I saw against OU last week.

Uluave led the Rockets with 11 kills. No one else had more than 5.

Oh, and tonight they were back to playing a 5-1, with the freshman Redmond the full-time setter. They will do it again tomorrow at 3 PM.
Rockets beat KSU again today, again in straight sets. They are now 3-1 in conference play.
Statistically at least, they played better today, hitting .229 Alt had 11 kills, and Vance 10.

Strange schedule next week, as they play @ Buffalo on Friday, and @ Akron on Saturday.
What a difference a couple weeks make, as the Rockets just ran over Buffalo tonight in 3 sets. By far the best performance the team has put on this season. Hit a scorching .385 as a team for the match. And they did it without starting MB Olivia Vance, who didn't seem to be present. Taylor Alt led the Rockets with 14 kills, Sina Uluave had 11.

UT is now 4-1 in the MAC.

Rockets have a quick turnaround to travel from Buffalo to Akron for a 5PM match tomorrow.
Wiped out Akron, play WMU for first in the West. Best start ever for a UT team.
Volleyball is carrying the flag for the AD right now, been a tremendous season so far.
Rockets still a work in progress, as they lose to 1st place WMU in 5 sets.

Rockets came out playing really well and won the 1st 2 sets, and were up midway through the 3rd. But at that point, it was like a switch flipped and the Rockets started to make numerous errors, and WMU started to get their legs together. WMU cam back and won set 3, and the Rockets looked really bad in set 4 which WMU won easily. Set 5 wasn't much better, as WMU closed it out 15-9. WMU is probably the 2nd best team in the MAC, behind BG, so it was good to hang with them, but there was an opportunity to put WMU away and they did not take it. Rockets were playing without their #1 MB again in Olivia Vance, who was dressed, but not expected to play until next week.

Taylor Alt had a big match with 26 kills. Ryan Jaqua passed 1000 career digs during the match. These two teams will do it again tomorrow.
Well, since football is not worth watching, thank goodness for volleyball. Rocket beat WMU in 4 sets today. Alt had another 20+ kill match.

Rockets move to 6-2, good for 3rd place in the west, but 4th overall, with the west being the much stronger division this year so far.
In a rare Tuesday night matchup, the Rockets lost @ 1st place Ball State in 4 sets. Rockets won the 1st easily, and BSU returned the favor in the 2nd. Rockets built up a big lead in the 3rd, going up 22-16 but then had a huge breakdown and ended up losing it 26-24, and they could never get things back in gear in the 4th.

Alt had another 20 kill match, but also hit a ton of errors. BSU looked really good for the most part, so other than that collapse at the end of the 3rd, it seemed more about BSU playing well than UT playing poorly.
Rockets split a pair of matches at NIU over the weekend. They are now 7-4 in the MAC, which is tied for 2nd in the west, and third overall.

Next week they get 3-8 Miami, and undefeated BG - both at home.

You piqued my interest . . . again!

Friday’s match at 6 pm (ET) will be on ESPN+ with Saturday’s, also at 6 pm, will be on ESPN3.
Majorly disappointing weekend of Volleyball at Savage this weekend.

In a very uninspired performance on Friday, the Rockets lost to last place Miami in 4 sets.
Then, tonight the Rockets lose to that team down south, also in 4 sets. BG is a really good team, but the Rockets took the 1st set easily. The next three all went down to the wire, but in the end too many UT errors at critical points doomed the Rockets. BG also got helped by a really bad call late in the 4th when the score was tied.

But, even worse than all that, UT lost one of thier starters, Rhyenne Filisi to what looked like a significant ankle injury during the Miami match. She was in a boot in street clothes at the BG game.
Rockets get back in the win column with a straight set win over EMU. They are now 8-6 in the MAC, which is good for 5th. Another round with EMU tomorrow.
Rockets beat EMU again today, this time in 4 sets. They are now 9-6, and tied with WMU for 4th overall, one game behind Ohio who came from behind 3 times to beat Miami today. Top 6 make the tourney, and I believe UT is guaranteed a slot, the only question is the seed.

Three games remaining. OU has the toughest schedule as they play BGSU twice. WMU the easiest. UT gets CMU twice, and then ends the season against 1st place Ball State.
Rockets lost @ CMU in 4 sets last night.
Fighting for position in the tourney, could finish as high as 3rd, but that goal took a hit with the loss to CMU. OU lost to BG and Western beat Akron, so UT is now along in 5th, one game behind each of them. One positive, is they got Rhyenne Filisi back from her ankle injury, as she subbed in briefly. Earlier they it had been reported they hoped to get her back for the tourney, so she seems to be ahead of schedule. They play CMU again today

BG’s team walked past me on the way to some candle-making event in Perrysburg the other day. They certainly look the part. Thx for the updates, North!
Rockets beat CMU in 4 sets today. Unfortunately WMU beat Akron and Ohio upset 1st place BG, so UT is still trails both of them by 1 match. 1 match remaining against 1st place Ball State.
