stAte had media day yesterday and Jones said top to bottom the Belt was one of the best conferences in college football. He talked about having 2 teams top 25 and said the rest of the teams were very good. He hopes to bring ASU back to the top of the Belt but said it would take time.

I think it will happen quicker than people expect. They could be very good at the end of this season once the all of new guys start to gel.

I think Jones is a one and done. He didn't come to ASU to end his career.

If that were true, it puts you guys right into your comfort zone.
He'd have to go 10 wins or better for one and done. Not that I'd object to that. But I won't expect it.

With our schedule I think 7 will do it.

With our schedule, 7 wins would be an acceptable season for year one, but there is no way that 7 wins will get Butch an SEC job. If we win 10 with our schedule then maybe but I don't see it happening this year.

I have no idea what to expect of our team this year but I can guarantee it will be more than 3 wins. If we keep everyone together, 2022 could be a big year for us.

Who in the SEC is going to hire Butch? Sure, in hindsight, he probably helped Tennessee reach heights another coach couldn't. But still, the trendline for hires at high profile jobs isn't favoring Jones.

If he could take us to 10 wins this year(unlikely), I imagine South Carolina and Vandy could be interested. 3 of our last 4 coaches went on to the SEC, so I'm not sure how you don't see that as a possibility. Of course if he doesn't win big then not many teams will be looking at him period. That is the same with every coach anywhere.

Didn't South Carolina and Vandy just hire coaches this off-season? And other than cash, why are you going to Vandy? Mason told them why they were losing and what would need to change in order to win and they shrugged it off. If you're a competitor, you're not going to Vandy.

He very well could, but our other 3 one and dones had the perfect storms to go back to their previous schools to take over as HC. I know Tennessee won't want him back, and I put the chances of Alabama opening up and hiring Jones at 1 in a million. Of course someone else could hire him, but I think we have him at least 2 years.

He may not want to coach in the SEC again. All of our other coaches were moving up. Butch has been there. He may be more picky on where he moves up to, not wanting to go somewhere that will have unrealistic expectations and may be more difficult to win at.
The SEC isn't the only place we lose a coach to. Their are plenty of ACC, BIG and PAC12 schools. Even a AAC school could pay way more than us. Jones has said before that coaching in the SEC isn't pleasant. He said you don't get long enough time to build a program. It's win now or get fired.

Well Pruitt gave it the ol' Alabama try.

IF UL and CCU repeat last years performance 2022 will be without there head coaches.

You’re probably right, but let’s not forget that literally almost every single person on this board said last year would be our final year with Chadwell. You all said there was absolutely no chance he’d be here for 2021, yet here he is.

Well when we take yr ars to the woodshed he'll be here permanently. 03-banghead
After coaching in the SEC he might have come to the realization that coaching at a G5 school, where he is payed north of 500,000 but isn’t dealing with the insane, unrealistic expectations of a SEC fanbase is perforable. I think he eventually leaves but I don’t think he is in a hurry, he has a good thing going.

This is hilarious!
I don't believe Jones is a one and done. I think its going to take a bunch for P5's to look past what happened at Tennessee, and I think Jones actually likes the idea of staying out of the limelight for a little bit

I don't think he'll be here for years and years, but he won't be a one and done either.
