Quote:SEC network had an ESPN source tell them Cincinnati, BYU, Houston and Memphis will be discussed this week and invites could go out next week. If BYU turns them Down then UCF is the next call.
ESPN>SEC Net> Sunbelt board - sounds like a game of "telephone" but thanks for the info.
Wonder who next call is after potentially both Cincy & BYU turn them down, SMU or Boise I would assume.

I would not be surprised if Cincy is waiting on ACC decision.

Shocked B12 would move fast unless current schools are already hearing thanks but no thanks from the other conferences.

Although could just be step 2 of a multi step process or plan B if A falls through.

They didn't move fast last time. I too would be surprised if they actually move quickly.

wheels start to spin faster when it actually happens though
The Big12 still has their head in the sand. One of their ADs posted a release saying it's not that bad because they still have until 2025 to decide what to do. Does anyone besides the Big12 actually think Texas and Oklahoma will still be in the Big12 until 2025?

Quote:In a video message to Iowa State fans and alumni on Monday, athletic director Jamie Pollard said he hoped Oklahoma and Texas would honor their existing grant of rights agreement with the Big 12.

"If that remains the case, we know for the next four years the Big 12 is going to stay viable, and the Big 12 is going to continue to win national championships and be competitive in NCAA championships, and all 10 members are going to continue to receive their full media shares," Pollard said. "That allows us the opportunity to spend the next four years evaluating the landscape and understanding what's changing or what isn't changing in college athletics. I know that gives us the best possible opportunity to position Iowa State University for what comes next."
I would rather have UCF than BYU. I like the sound of Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston, and UCF.
I wish C Austin Cox would confirm this

The way I see it, BIg12 leftovers have nothing to loose by inviting the next 4 up. The other leagues are in no hurry to add to their conf. The only schools that would move the needle are ACC schools (VA or Tech going to the B1G or Notre Dame fully joining, etc) The leftover schools have 0 other options, so why rush to pick up anyone. If PAC 12 wants say Texas Tech, they could get them now or 10 years from now. It ain't like Texas Tech got any better options
Am I reading this wrong or is this a statement from Kansas State sources?

I quoted that a few posts above, but I didn't see the bottom part.

BYU can't play or travel on Sundays though right? Wonder if they even want to be in a football conference. Seems like they are like Notre Dame-lite and can schedule whoever they want. Didn't they sign an exclusive tv deal with ESPN?

GoPowerCat quoted sources they claim are Kansas State working with the Big 12 on possible expansion plans.
Why would BYU turn them down? Makes the rest of the rumor seem doubtful to me.

How much money does b y u make? The Big 12 8 don't draw a lot of eyeballs unless they're playing Texas or Oklahoma.

Right resource mentioned Memphis, Cincinnati, UCF, and was at Houston?
Now that meaningful stuff is starting to leak out, it is the same as it was all along the first time expansion was discussed. Cincinnati, Memphis and UCF. Houston will probably be in because Texas is out.

BYU will never get offered...ever. Cincinnati won't turn them down. What they might do is accept the bid and then bolt to the ACC if the offer comes in.
