Both are in the Florida market, UCF hasn’t been THAT much better recently.
Disney makes Orlando easy to fly into and only 1 pro team ?
It’s about perception.

UCF has been to three BCS/NY6 bowls in 8 years while USF’s best bowl in its history is the Sun Bowl almost 15 years ago.

Do 2017 and 2018 count as recently?

No, It's Jocularity! A bunch of people logging on here acting as if they're Jocs, thumping their chests at every school announcement. 05-stirthepot

USF had back to back top 25 seasons just a couple years ago in the Quinton Flowers years. 11-2 and 10-2.

However, UCF has built up a lot of credibility for the NY6 bowls. USF came really close to a NY6 one of those years. One of the years they were the best team in AAC, but lost out of the AAC champ game in a tie breaker.

One has an expandable on-campus stadium they regularly fill, a newer basketball arena, and a larger portion of its students on the main campus. The other is struggling to fill the lower bowl at Raymond James Stadium and needs to draw a name P5 school to artificially boost season ticket sales, since a lower deck seat requires a minimum 4 game commitment with the P5 game representing 60% of the value.

FTR, I’m not knocking USF down. Both schools offer a lot to any conference.

But from an outsiders’s point of view, UCF has been making more noise lately even though their BCS/NY6 record is 1-2.

Historically, USF's attendance has been as good or better than UCF's (over the past 25 years).

Yeah, but they got there. USF couldn't finish the job in their good years. One year USF went 7-1 in conference, but lost on a tie breaker to Temple, despite the fact that if USF and Temple played 100 times that year, USF would have won 90 of them, and would have probably won AAC and played in a NY6 that year.

But you're counting the first 10 years where UCF played in a dump in the middle of the slums and a glorified HS gym while USF played in a brand new NFL stadium and a proper BB venue. Over the last 15 years, the numbers are quite different. Even the talk about an on-campus USF stadium was for 15k fewer seats than the Bounce House. Also keep in mind that until UCF joined The American, USF was always in a better conference than UCF.

Wrong. Between let's say 8-15 years ago, USF's attendance was much higher than UCF's. Go look up the numbers. Between 2007-2011, USF averaged over 40K, and over 50K a couple times.

If you're talking over the past 5 years, UCF's has been a little higher.

I love all the attendance crap. Lets face it. South Florida is one of only 2 or 3 schools that has their "Actual Attendance" published every week. The rest of you report "Tickets Sold or Tickets Distributed". So cut with the BS. You seem to be a closet UCF fan.

Agree. USF and UCF's tickets distributed/reported are pretty similar actually over the past decade. Prior to that USF's was higher (by far in many cases).

But USF was in a better conference with name teams. It's easier to get folks excited in WVU, Pitt, and Louisville than Marshall, Tulsa, and Rice.

You're absolutely right. I didn't say why it was higher, it was just higher. Playing WVU every year helped a lot.
UCF’s athletic program is way ahead of usf, has had much, much more success, and UCF has a much bigger fanbase. It’s really not even close.

UCF:
3 NY6 Appearances
2 NY6 Wins
6 Conf Championships
6 Divison Titles
2 End of season top 10 rankings
5 End of season top 25 rankings

usf:
0 NY6 Appearances
0 NY6 Wins
0 Conf Championships
0 Division Titles
0 End of season top 10 rankings
2 End of season top 25 rankings

Oh please, neither of our schools are very good at basketball, but we have a newer arena and similar to football, we will probably even out the head to head very soon. But neither of our schools will be added because of basketball, we’re football schools. And baseball is irrelevant when it comes to conference realignment.
