Washington Post article on Davis

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/20...g-fathers/

He lost both of his legs as another poster indicated he heard when the accident happened in May.
Nice article in the Post. Hope he is doing well.

Amazing article. The story is tremendously sad. I am glad to see Devon and him still pushing through life together.

Also - article was written by Mark Selig, a former DNR reporter I believe.

Good catch on Selig. Forgot he has been at the Post for several years, but I don't think he is a writer/columnist.

Edit: Looks like he has worked there for about 5 years as an editor (Sports & News)
I cannot fathom what its like to lose the use of your legs... and that now makes two people I know who have had this happen in the last month due to senseless preventable situations. So sad and angering to me - I can't imagine what it's like for AJ but thank goodness for his support system.
What happened? I can't see the article, no wapo account?

He was on his way taking his daughter to her mom when he saw a homeless person on the side of the road with a sign asking for food. He had a trunk full of groceries so stopped and popped the trunk, then as he was going through the groceries another car hit him and pinned him to the back of his car.

Had to have both legs amputated and put in to a medically induced coma for a week. It said the driver that hit him "appeared to show signs of impairment from alcohol and or drugs".
That is sad news
Well, f#%^.

A guy as athletic and talented as he is to lose his legs. Damn.

Yes, it would be a horror for anyone, but when that’s your life’s God given talent? A vocalist loses her tongue? A marksman loses an eye?

Good grief.

I hope folks step up to help. I won’t pretend to imagine what this is like.

Damn

I don't know the scenarios and goals but I hope AJ Davis walks out onto the court the next time he visits a JMU basketball game...it would be loud.

Prosthetics have come a long way (I am not a PT) but I know a man/friend at JMU (many of you know him I am sure) that lost both legs and he walks to work every day and goes to the gym and uses many of the machines.
