Thanks turned off ad blocker and was able to read it. One thing is for sure...

CUSA coaches understand that QB play in the conference was very weak. I'm sure they also understand best QB with good coach usually wins CUSA. But just upgrading your QB usually translate into more wins.

QB play was the difference between CUSA and the SBC last couple years.

ODU will have D. J. Mack Jr., a transfer from UCF with 2 years of eligibility remaining. He's a Norfolk native who returned home to play.

He won't be the starter by the end of the year. He has some serious accuracy issues and I bet y'all have someone better on the roster.

Zappe or McCaffrey have the most potential from that list. McCaffrey would have eventually been the starter at Nebraska.

I don't know about McCaffrey, other than I know his brother can play football real well.

But I saw Bailey Zappe play LA Tech last year in Ruston. He's very good FCS QB transfer. He's a drop back passer with a lot of patience and skills. I expect WKU's Zappe to throw the football 60 times a game this season. For the record, Zappe was 37 of 58 for 406 yds and 5 TD passes in his team's 66-38 loss to LA Tech last season.

You could be right about that.

Apparently he's a very good running QB - No. 17 ranked dual threat quarterback in the country out of high school, and he did have nice passing totals in the 2018 AAC Championship game against Memphis - 19 of 27 pass attempts for 348 yards and two touchdowns, the most passing yards by a freshman since Ryan Schneider in 2000, posted four rushing touchdowns from 18 carries, tying the UCF single-game record and setting The American Championship Game record.

Not sure what to expect from him since I've never seen him play.

C-USA used to be a great QB league. The last realignment didn't elevate the new programs like before. The leftovers just dropped to their level. We used to say we were better than the MWC. Now we're lucky if we're beating the SBC. Let's hope it was just a phase and it starts getting better.

You sure about that? The last couple seasons QB has been awful and I agree that is the reason for the drop. I guess you can go back to the last 3 seasons but in 6 seasons (not counting covid year) there's a lot of names in the top 15 from new additions
