...is for the Dodgers to deal with. He was put on administrative leave by MLB last week for allegations of sexual assault. Innocent until proven guilty but this is not good for our former ace or for the Dodger organization.

Quote:Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball last Friday, stemming from allegations of sexual assault. Under the league's domestic violence policy, which was collectively bargained with the players, MLB is allowed to place players on leave for seven days even if no criminal charges are brought forth.

Though those seven days are almost up, Bauer isn't expected to take the mound any time soon. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was asked this week if Bauer was likely to start before the All-Star break, which begins Monday, July 12, and Roberts replied "I don't see it happening."

Upon the conclusion of the seven days, MLB can request an extension for another seven days, so long as the MLB Players Association agrees. Bauer didn't appeal the administrative leave in the first place and appears to be cooperating with the police investigation, so it doesn't seem likely that the MLBPA would object to extending the administrative leave.

The Dodgers have also removed Trevor Bauer Bobblehead Night from their promotional calendar, per the L.A. Times. It was set for Aug. 19. Beyond that, all his merchandise is gone from the team store as well, according to Bill Plunkett of the OC Register.

The allegations against Bauer come from a California woman whose lawyer told TMZ Sports last week that he secured an order of protection against Bauer on her behalf under the state's Domestic Violence Prevention Act. The woman's lawyer said she "suffered severe physical and emotional pain" following a "recent assault."

The Athletic reported details of the allegations in the restraining order last week. "I agreed to have consensual sex; however, I did not agree or consent to what he did next. I did not agree to be sexually assaulted," the woman said. The report includes graphic details, including that Bauer allegedly strangled and punched the woman.

Bauer's agent, Jon Fetterolf, issued a statement last week saying the relationship was "wholly consensual."

Bauer's Career In Jeopardy
No idea whether the claims are true or not but he came off like a preening jerk off the field way too often while he was here. I’m sure living in La La Land hasn’t helped cure that particular personality trait much.

I suppose it would be in bad taste to replace Trevor's bobblehead night with a bobblehead of his lady friend.
I may be jumping the gun but it appears he's done in MLB.

This is a really tough case. From the facts that have come out it looks terrible for Bauer. However I do think the text messages he released portray a different picture than what this girl claimed in her restraining order. Some people really are into some dark, kinky sex. The really difficult part for me is that I don't think it's possible to consent to unconcious sex or abuse (once you're out, there's no unconditional permission you can give to someone else to violate you, whether you like it or not). The texts seem to indicate she was even comfortable with being knocked in and out of conciousness. So from that perspective I think it's unfair to categorize Bauer as a rapist or an abuser by the same traditional definitions. It's also possible the rough sex happened and she made up the more extreme details (like Bauer having anal sex with her while she was out). Police have been investigating for over a month and don't seem like they have a clear distinction drawn either.

Really terrible situation.
He should have been smarter. High paid, high profile athlete should have known this was a likely setup

Maybe we can get him back next year on the cheap?
Agree you have to be smarter than getting involved in that situation but I don't think it was a setup. There are alleged pictures of the victim having two black eyes among other things. Getting punched in the genitals? That doesn't sound like kinky sex to me. Again, all the facts need to come out before rendering final judgments but Bauer created this mess. He should'a just rented a movie and smacked himself around in the privacy of his mansion...
Getting punched in the genitals? Sounds like a regular occurrence for a Cincinnati sports fan

He’s toast if that is a legit photo. He’s either a nut case or he belongs in prison. Of course the two are not mutually exclusive.

Remember that time you beat the sh!t out of your gal during sex? Yeah.
Apparently she is Bauer's agent.

She's also the agent for Yasiel Puig (who is currently playing in Mexico), Miami Marlins pitcher David Hess, and Reds pitching coach Eric Jagers.

This is insane. There used to be a clearly drawn line between what is socially acceptable and what can get you run out of town by a hoard of angry family members. I doubt the 2nd wave feminists ever imagined that there would be debates about the conditions around which two people can cause pain to each other during sex.

Maybe a former agent? His current agent, Jon Fetterolf, has been releasing statements on his behalf.
Sounds like they are going to dust off Ye Olde “nuts and sluts” defense. That should go...poorly.
The next time he pitches at a NL West foe’s field, any respecting marketing group will run a rubber gimp mask and ball gag night promotion.
Here's another angle...

Quote:After Bauer’s second week of administrative leave ends next Thursday, MLB can extend the administrative leave only with consent of the MLB players union. That means Bauer won’t be on the Dodgers’ active roster, but the team will still be on the hook for his salary.

The Dodgers can’t suspend Bauer on their own volition because MLB holds that authority under the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse policy, which was enacted in 2015. The team can only act if Commissioner Rob Manfred transfers disciplinary authority to them.

If the MLBPA rejects any further extension of Bauer’s leave, it’s less clear what would happen. MLB could suspend Bauer based on the findings of its investigation to that point, or the Dodgers could put him back on their roster. It’s worth noting, though, that the union has not withdrawn consent for administrative leave before, so such a situation would be without precedent.

Can the Dodgers void Bauer’s contract?

No. Such a unilateral decision would violate the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, which both MLB and the Players’ Association have agreed on. Under that policy, Manfred has the authority to suspend Bauer (in which case, the Dodgers wouldn’t need to pay him for the duration of his suspension), but the Dodgers themselves can’t do anything unless Manfred transfers disciplinary authority to them.

The standard player contract allows for termination if a player shall, “fail, refuse or neglect to conform his personal conduct to the standards of good citizenship and good sportsmanship.” If such language is included in Bauer’s deal, then perhaps the team could get out of it depending on the results of MLB and the Pasadena police’s investigations. Such a step, however, would be drastic, and unlikely not imminent.

Will Bauer be criminally charged?

Lawyers told The Times last week that in this case, obtaining a conviction could be hard because the woman returned for a second sexual encounter, and because of text messages released by Bauer’s camp showing the woman encouraging rough sex. The bar for guilt in a criminal court is proof beyond reasonable doubt, and while a “he said, she said” case might find Bauer guilty in the court of public opinion, that will be much harder in a courtroom. The district attorney’s office could also hesitate to prosecute a high-profile case it may not win.

If more women come forward alleging similar acts by Bauer, however, it would increase the likelihood of a criminal case. According to the prosecutors and defense lawyers with whom The Times spoke, it seems more likely that the case will go to civil court, where the bar for a verdict against Bauer is a preponderance of evidence and Bauer could face a large indemnity.

Rachel Luba is Bauer's agent, along with Fetterolf. She is not the alleged victim. No idea where that mistaken info has come from, but I've seen in several places.

You are correct. I think the confusion is related to previous rumors that Bauer and Luba were also dating. I think both have denied it however.

Luba has been a strong supporter of Bauer with regard to this incident is taking a lot of heat for it in social media, etc.
It looks like the Dodgers’ best pitcher is also their best hitter. Who’da thunk it?

This is not going to end well for anyone involved.
She returned for a second night of rough sex, whos to say she didn't have her pimp beat her once the night was over then report it? If you sign 100 million dollar public contract don't meet people off instagram for rough sex, Hire a Pro
Judge denies permanent restraining order against Bauer. If you're MLB or the Dodger organization...now what do you do? The physical evidence of what happened to this woman is not in question. The issue is how far does a man go to respond to a woman's requests without consequences? I guess I'm pretty conservative in the sack that I don't get aroused punching a woman. Is all forgiven and he comes back no questions asked? Is he suspended for a time?

Quote: A temporary restraining order against Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer has been dissolved after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Dianna Gould-Saltman ruled against a woman's request for a permanent restraining order Thursday.

Gould-Saltman determined that Bauer did not pose a threat to the 27-year-old woman, who accused him of sexual assault over the course of two sexual encounters, and that her injuries were not the result of anything she verbally objected to before or during the encounter.

The judge said the "injuries as shown in the photographs are terrible" but added, "If she set limits and he exceeded them, this case would've been clear. But she set limits without considering all the consequences, and respondent did not exceed limits that the petitioner set."

The woman gave emotional testimony on Monday, describing how her "soul left my body" while Bauer punched her closed-fisted in the face, body and near her vagiina after being choked unconscious on May 16. She described being in such shock that she couldn't bring herself to tell Bauer to stop. The woman testified for more than nine hours over the course of three days.

"The evidence has shown [the woman] was sexually and physically assaulted by Trevor Bauer -- that this was not rough sex between two consenting adults," Helfend Meyer told the judge on Thursday. "A person in her right mind would never have consented to what Trevor had done to her."

Don't put yourself in this situation in the first place
