I'm excited about full capacity and new faces.

Diemer (So), Grimes (So), Pierre (So), Masta (Jr), Erwin (Jr), and Katz (Jr) are no longer on the roster.

Any word on Mathis...did he have a shoulder operation and will he be ready for pre-season practice?

Do we really only have 3 QBs. Who plays of Mathis out?

We have five. Freshman Darius Wilson and transfer Kevin Doyle from Arizona not yet on roster.
Doyle was a 3 star 2018 recruit from DC who was the Gatorade High School Player of the Year for DC. However he has not played in a game for 3 years at Arizona and transferred after Spring Practice at Arizona when his depth chart position was not ideal.

He has 3 years of eligibility with clearly a lot of potential talent as Pro style QB!
Really just glad to see a full season being played. QB competition will be fun to watch.
Looking at the lineup for the Fall there will be some competition but most spots are probably set.

QB- Mathis will have competition whether he is healthy or not. Transfer Cole Northrup performed well as the starter at Lafayette and Kevin Doyle has a pedigree though never getting a shot at Arizona. Freshman Darius Wilson was a very polished HS QB and could compete immediately.

RB- It doesn't get much better than Donavyn Lester and Malachi Imoh and Elijah Burns showed to be a quality backup in the Spring. Incoming Freshman Martin Lucas will likely push for reps immediately and frosh Joe Murray and Mattijs Lasore both showed promise in Spring.

WR- With Everson and Burdick returning and what we saw from Cole Blackman in three games the position group looks strong. Seth Dunn probably locked in to get reps and there's a deep field behind him. Expect Tyler Rose and Dresean Kendrick to push.

TE- Pitts and Mague are established and Ry Yates was outstanding in Spring.

OL- Four spots seem set with Ripley at center, Trainer and Sorsdal at the tackles and Evers at LG. Competition at RG with Ryder, Crowell and Francois. Depth with frosh Charles Grant getting high marks in Spring and Rian Haigler (used as blocking TE in Spring) always pushing for time.

DL- Bessant, Fowler and Kiely probably the starters. Nate Lynn established as backup and Creed got quality time in Spring. The redshirt frosh Malone, Sarantis and Huyck all look very promising with De Buglio in the wings. Won't be surprised if incoming frosh Davin Dzidzienyo and Tanner Slavic push immediately. Lots of athleticism here and we are big.

OLB- Tyler Crist leads the way with Isaiah Jones right behind. Kevin Jarrell and Marteise Phipps both experienced. John Pius outstanding as frosh in the Spring and James Jennette also performed well.

ILB- Crowded field here as well with Watkins the leader. Brayden Staib emerged as a starter in Spring and experienced Jarrett Heckert expected to be healthy. Freshmen Quinn Osborne and Alex Washington both looked good in Spring.

CB- Ryan Poole is established. Imari Smith moved down from safety and played well in Spring as a freshman. Transfer Tate Haynes will surely push for the second spot. Jaedon Joyner and Greg Cuffey both have experience. Incoming freshmen Jalen Jones and Ethan Yip could compete early. If the group looks strong Smith could go back to safety.

Safety- While nothing is probably set here I expect Gage Herdman and Bronson Yoder to be the starters. Malcolm Spencer was terrific in the Spring after switching from CB because of injuries and Marcus Barnes started all three games in the Spring. John Kearney showed well as a frosh in the Spring. Incoming freshman David Roulley looks very talented.

Kicking game- Expect Chang and Whitehurst will carryover from Spring. Will Michael should be healthy and compete with Whitehurst at punter. Our long snapper is no longer on the roster and I would guess Cory Ryder takes over those duties.
Does anyone with a finger closer to the pulse of this program than me (everyone on this board probably) have any guesses on what our record will be? Looks like a real gauntlet to close out the season.

I'm nowhere close to the program, but feel cautiously optimistic that we will have a decent CAA squad competitive with every team aside from jmu. I am a homer though, and have seen some outsider Twitter order of finish polls that put us near the bottom. I see us not in title contention but somewhere in the 4 or 5 range.

Lindys puts us 11th. I think Towson or Elon was below us.

The schedule actually plays well to build momentum. The key games are 3rd (at Colgate, a loss here would likely have us going 1-2 into CAA play) - then 4th game at Elon, our CAA opener.

If we win both of these, we come into HC against UAlbany 3-1 and 1-0 in the CAA. I like that scenario, a potential win with a large supporting crowd. If a win, we would be 2-0 with next games at Maine and home vs Towson.

So - being an extreme optimist - there is a reasonable chance we could be 4-0 in CAA, 6-1 overall, going into the gauntlet of Delaware, Villanova, JMU and UR.

Worst case in my view would be 2-9 with wins over Lafayette and Towson.
Good news on the fundraising front as Football surpassed its FY'21 goal of $765,000 raising $830,962! Nearly doubled what was raised in FY'20.

Power in the Patriot League has shifted with Lafayette stronger than Colgate which suffered more bad news with the loss of their Head Coach and is currently operating with an interim. Lafayette's problem is their starting QB is now wearing green & gold.

Yes, makes sense. My understanding of the Patriot this year is Holy Cross is head and shoulders above the field. Lafayette should be competitive in the PL but shouldn’t be a team we lose to at home, even in an off year. Colgate being a road game I think will just be a bigger challenge being a roadie.

I can’t see us losing to Lafayette or Colgate. I think we’d dominate the Patriot league.

How does this roster and position depth compare to the one London inherited when he took over? Have they made significant improvements are we in the same position talent wise.

I agree though we seem to struggle much more than I expect, particularly with Lafayette. In both of the last two home games against them, we trailed at halftime though we had big Q3s to pull away. We struggled at Bucknell 14-7 a few years ago and were shutout by Colgate at Zable a few years ago.

PL teams like to play up to CAA opponents. We should win both this year, yes, but I sure hope we don’t take either game too lightly.

I think that's a fair assessment, especially on the offensive side of the ball. I think the defense is at best even.
