I have NO idea who recruits the area and why we do well there. That said, if I were a 17 year old athlete from GB looking at a MAC school I'd definitely consider EMU.
Lot of students (and I guess student athletes) like the idea of being say 50 miles from home.
It is like the hot fudge sundae, both hot and cold, or in this case close but not too close to home.
Easy for the family or GF to come and watch a game.
Or in the case of my ex-wife, she went to school 150, rather than 50, miles from her home. A little extra distance? Mom and dad won't be coming up Saturday morning for brunch???
Or she could have just said, "WMU sucks. I'd never want to go there..." (It's a joke, no offense Bronco fans...).

Great to see another in-state guy commit. Grand Blanc seems to get it and I'm convinced that another bowl game this year will push others to see it as well.
