UT baseball recruit Garret Pike, from Anthony Wayne, was selected the Ohio Division I Player of the Year. The infielder/pitcher batted .534 as a senior with 9 home runs and 53 RBI. He had an 8-2 record as a pitcher with a 1.48 ERA.
Seeing this name as a topic immediately made me think of Ben Pike and his wife Ashlee (nee Barrett). After searching the internet, I found that Ben and Ashlee are now living in St. Charles, Missouri (Ashlee is from Missouri). Ben is a high school football coach and Ashlee is now a 3-time survivor of Leukemia. Pictures on Twitter show that she looks very healthy and extremely happy. She appears to have received a recent degree (don't know if it is a graduate degree) as an Education Specialist. They adopted a little boy about a year ago and who now appears to be about 2 years old. He had been with them prior to the adoption and I have to believe he came into their life around the time of his birth since his first name is Barrett....so, after the adoption his name became Barrett Pike - and Ashlee's name is Ashlee Barrett-Pike, although I don't believe she goes with the hyphenated name. Hard to believe it was nearly 8 years ago when Ben decided against playing his senior season at UT to be with his fiance and to help her through her sickness. Just hoping there are no future battles with the disease - and they can continue to live a beautiful life together.

Hopefully Garret Pike (close enough to Barrett Pike) becomes a legend at UT as well.
Congrats to Garret Pike. So, we'll have the reigning MAC MVP and the Ohio D1 MVP for next year? Any other locals headed to UToledo?

Good thoughts out to the Ben Pike family.

If Meyer's is now an alum, that's what matters. Wishing him well. This coach seems to know how to bring his players up. Next year should be interesting.

Because he’s entering the MLB Draft, right? Not because he’s in the transfer portal looking for a p5 school, right?

I heard the coaches' podcast and he said Myers wouldn't be returning. I assume to get drafted.
