CC has cemented herself as the best athlete in JMU history!

While other great athletes have enjoyed fantastic collegiate careers at JMU, no one has experienced this type of post season success. Additionally, CC is doing it against elite schools from Power Conference which only solidifies her legacy as the best athlete in JMU history.
According to another poster CC will be on sportscenrer at 1145 am.
That was good. Thanks for the heads up. She has poise and grit.
Is “grit” the softball equivalent of “juice”?

I keep hearing softball players and coaches from various teams consistently use that word “grit”...
More like toughness and determination. At least assuming softball people use it the same way hockey people do.
Odicci Alexander's ESPN interview on Sportscenter, June 5, 2021

What a great person to represent JMU. Love her poise, confidence and character. A fine young woman with mad softball skills. Go Dukes.
ok, I wish i knew more about her earlier in the season, she has a magnetic energy. She has the "it" factor and is a pure stud !
I'm saying the greatest smile of all the players in the WS.
What a thrill its been watching this team and this superstar pitcher. So proud of the team and proud to say two of my children are JMU grads. Keep it going ladies

GO DUKES
Regardless of the outcome of today, Is CC a top 5 JMU athlete of all time?
CC has been awesome, both as a player and person. What a great representative for our school. We have been blessed to have her at JMU on many levels. Just a great story.

Quick aside. Do any of you know if she has purposely altered her swing in the last couple of years? CC had hit a combined 30 HRs in 2018 & 2019. But in a combined 36 games in 2020 & 2021, she has hit only 2.
I'd still like our chances with her up at bat in a crucial situation, just was surprised to see the HR numbers.

With CC the word is SWAG!

I mean is there any question? I think she's got to be up there with Haley, Schor. That play Friday night might make her #1.
JMU's Odicci Alexander, with Spurs' Keldon Johnson & family at her side, is face of WCWS

I'd say Haley, Clark, and CC are the top 3 for me. Some of the other sports have probably had some top athletes too, but a softball pitcher just allows one player to dominate the other team so much and it's hard to argue with long NFL careers (and up until recently the NFL player with the most SB rings in history).

However, I'd add the fact that she plays both ways (incredibly rare for a pitcher of her caliber) and is fantastic at every facet of the game. She's one of our most consistent batters on the team, a truly fantastic fielder (as shown by her #1 play on SC), and a dominant pitcher (lowest run total all season for OU and held OSU to 1 the next night). Plus she's an outstanding leader and example, yet still humble. As far as being a representative of the university...she is literally the perfect example of what you want out of a student-athlete. It's hard to find someone who watches or listens to her and doesn't love her. Then again, it's hard to find anyone on this team that you don't want to root for. There's a solid half dozen or more (plus coach LaPorte) that we need statues of around VMP/campus.

Is it rare for a pitcher of her caliber? I admit my softball knowledge is pretty much exclusively limited to JMU over the last five or so seasons, but from what I remember Jailyn Ford and Megan Good were both also right there in the three or four hole in the lineup. Obviously those are the other titans of the JMU softball team, so I still don't know if that's representative of softball as a whole, but seems to be the norm for the Dukes.
Seems like commentators make a pretty big deal out of it with CC and Rachel Garcia.
