hey guys, try to take it easy on my alma mater this week. 03-wink Here is a little info on the Lions of S.E. Louisiana. They are presently 9-22, 2-12 in the Southland Conference (ugly is an understatement). They can't win at home but are even worse on the road. They are batting .274 as a team with 171 runs scored, 18 home runs, 214 K's, 129 walks and are 34 out of 45 on the basebaths. Pitching is even worse, a team ERA of 7.42, have 171 K's and 104 walks given up, and opponents are batting .341 against them. Ok well I figured once I got down perusing their stats that maybe the defense was at least decent, 59 errors in 1174 chances or .950 fielding percentage. If the Rebels want to steal some bases this would be the time to do it. Opponents are 54 out of 70 on the Lions stealing bases. The irony in the pitching woes is that their new head coach, Dan Canevari, was the pitching coach under Skip Bertman since 1998 and was on the LSU staff when they won all the NC's. But this is his first year and I know he will right the ship, problem is getting talent, they are only about 30 minutes from LSU, so he will lose some good ones there. I know these are the kind of teams you have to look out for and games are not played on paper, but if they were this is a butt whuppin' to the nth degree ready to happen and a trip to the woodshed courtesy of the Rebels. :D
Thanks for the info 1964! Teams like that are usually taken to the wood shed for the whiping of their life by a SEC team, but sometimes they can sneak up on you. They'll play the games of their lives against a SEC team.

The Bulldogs have a couple of doormats to play Tuesday and Wednesday also, but don't let them sneak up on you! You're playing too good right now!
:D
Dawg64, are you from Hammond or did you just go to school there?
Just went to school there, I am from Baker, just north of Baton Rouge.
Good stuff, as usual 64, appreciate the info. Sounds like we should be able to get the bats going and score some runs. But I agree with you and I'm sticking with the popular vote around here, I take NO game for granted!! Being a Rebel, you're taught that at an early age.... 03-lol 03-lol 03-lol

So, who you pulling for in these two games, 64, the SEC's Rebs or your alma mater? 03-wink Didn't mean to put you on the spot....LOL
well looking at the records, Ole Miss. :D I follow SLU sports but not all that much, mainly when they play SEC teams, primarily State and Ole Miss in this case and of course when they play LSU which is 2 times a year.

Their record now looks one better so obviously our's looks.........
At least we redeemed ourselves off that blow out....how can we paly so good one game or series and be soooooo pitiful in a game like that one the other night....I know - it happens! Just trying to rationalize WHY we had to embarrass ourselves like that. Our Rodney Dangerfield personality had to surface. Correction, we had to keep it alive...we can't stand the spotlight.

That's true Still, but as Tom Hanks said in A League of Their Own."There's no Crying in Baseball!".
