dont sleep on nawrot - hes only a sophomore

too bad these guys are all ruining college football - they all seem like stand up dudes.

The issue for Nawrot is the position he plays. I think think our O-line has been pretty good the past couple years, and with the extra year of eligibility is loaded with upper classmen with tons of experience. It is also the spot we have recruited the best over the last two-three years, at least in terms of the "rankings" and added a big ten transfer (Douglas).

As was pointed out though, with three years left he'll have a lot of time to try and break in.

Sr 2

Douglas and Nawrot should have potential start as soon as next season.

What is the basis of that comment? (I know of no information to believe they are hidden gems ready to bloom in September)

with 2 seniors graduating and only 3 juniors there should be plenty of open competition for fall 22. no inside information and no tape breakdown - just playing the numbers.

Sorry if there is confusion of the ambiguity of the English language. I assumed 'next' meant 2021. You seemingly meant 2022.

The 2022 OL positions should be up for grabs. No doubt.

This could prove to be a pivotal year ('21) for the O-line. We have last year's line returning and likely coming in as starters in their respective positions and with very high expectations of them for the coming season.

Then you have a new O-line coach who, along with wanting a good season out of his squad, will be looking toward the future. So it's very likely we might see more guys rotating in and out as he tests his #2's and the potential of the transfers and next tier guys he feels might be ready for game action.

And you have all the second-stringers who will be battling to keep anyone from leapfrogging them, and perhaps hoping to jump ahead of the guys starting in front of them as the season progresses.

Basically, you have 5 guys who have proven themselves and should be as good as, if not better than, last year. And then you have 16 guys behind them all hungry for the chance to prove themselves to a new coach. For those of us who enjoy watching the trenches, this should be a good year. Let's just pray that everyone stays healthy and injury-free.

I'm going OT for a second but the Lions are working on building one of the best OLs in the NFL.

Should see a lot of smash mouth football in Ypsilanti and Detroit.

I’m trying to be optimistic but the reality is we’ve not been able to run the ball consistently or stop the run consistently which is why Creightons teams hover around 0.500
Looks like the roster is all set for this season. I’m disappointed we didn’t secure another DL, DE or LB

Yep. My guess is that we ran out of scholarships. If the listings we see (247sports) showing the status of transfer portal athletes there are still many players there who are a). looking for a home, b). could help us.

This is a case where 20 - 20 hindsight is great. We could have held back half of the Dec. class for transfers.

And looking ahead I see chaos this coming December as coaches try to decide - 2022 high school recruits OR bank the LOIs for the transfer portal players.

maybe they move Benson to LB?
Saw a Tweet that the EMU FB newcomers came on campus I think yesterday. I assume that to mean that we shouldn't expect more transfers.

I'll be on the lookout for updated roster. I was on campus this week in 2018 and this is the week the players assemble, new recruits get their 'head shots', etc.

I said hi to one recruit who committed a few days later but flipped to Syracuse(????).

And this is the week of the EMU FB camp. Wish I were in Ypsi this week.

This is a week which we may get a few commits. That certainly happened in 2018.

Most of the newcomers are after the numeric listing

I'm reminded what one occasionally hears about people: They will either end up rich or bankrupt. Meaning, of course, they will take a big chance and if it works out great, if not... go see the judge.
