Oh, well.

Poll Where Emoni end up after h.s:

1). MSU - can't count Sparty out.

2). G-League,

3). NBA

4). EMU - I had to toss that one in.

5). None of the above/I don't have a clue.

Or a pro league, B-League.
Shocking!
Is there an ego league?

Elgin Bates is a toned down Midwestern version of LaVar Ball, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure we all saw this announcement coming, this kid is going wherever the money can come the biggest and soonest. After all, Daddy "created" a high school where the kid could showcase his talents nationally, I doubt that academic considerations factored much if any, into that action.

In my perfect world dream, Elgin Bates would file suit and force the NBA to once again accept HS kids like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, etc... once again. The NBA may give you a disingenuous explanation about concerns for young athletes but they did so for one reason. THEY WERE MISFIRING ON DRAFTING HS PLAYERS AND LIKED THE OPTION OF THEM PLAYING A YEAR IN NCCA COMPETITON FOR A BETTER EVALUATION. Yes it's nice to have a farm system financed in a large part by taxpayers.

I still like the MLB system the best. A young athlete can sign with a pro team right out of high school, but if he decides to go to college, he must wait until his junior year or sit out a season to sign a MLB contract. Zion Williamson does not waste a scholarship at Duke, he proceeds directly to the NBA where he obviously belongs. Emoni Bates does not care about a degree from MSU, that is abundantly clear, let him sidestep the NCAA and pursue his career dream. A decent student, however, may decide that three years of college life while honing his craft is a better option and if he does not prove out, he is left with a valuable college degree option.

I agree totally with that idea. The one and done system is nonsense. The NBA may need to expand the draft for a few rounds to make it happen.
