In China. They will make all of the parts and the batteries and then the unions here will put them together and they won't be competitive with the ones made in Mexico and China and shipped here. Did I miss something?

Biden is an idiot. Forget robots and automation. Just use common sense. Even if the electric automobile technology suddenly becomes the most popular cars sold (electric is only about 2% of all cars sold right now)----the public still needs to pay for them just like any other car. The total cars sold per year isnt going to suddenly and radically change. Thus, we arent going to be making any more cars. We are just going to make a different model and the people who are currently making the most popular cars will likely be exact same manufacturing labor force that builds the new electric cars. Basic common sense tells you there isnt going to be a bunch of new jobs because you change the type of car built.

If most cars are electric---its more likely that total sales will drop because electric cars cost more to build (higher the price--fewer sold---basic moving up and down the supply and demand curve). Furthermore, its possible electric cars will INCREASE in price as we build MORE of them because their high manufacturing volume will put so much pressure on supplies of rare earth elements required to make the batteries--resulting in the prices of those rare elements to increase even higher (which will increase the price of many other technology devices that also require those elements---and perhaps even ignite some global international conflicts over control of these rare earth deposits).

This is why you should never ever elect a houseplant as president.

Are we forgetting about the net loss of auto repair jobs. Oil change stores etc. And how are all of these electric car owners gonna make up the loss of gasoline tax revenue? Are they gonna pay a $2000 electric car tax per year on their tag renewal? These are serious questions the economic scholars have not answered. Our country runs off the gasoline tax. Currently electric cars are a net revenue loss due to the tax incentives for buying them.

How about making these electric cars as cheap and reliable as gas cars without government interference and more people will buy them. In the 90s you could get a brand new, efficient and reliable low end car for about $8,000. What was wrong with that? Now thanks to the government you need a 7 year old 100,000+ miles used clunker to buy anything at that price. As far as electric goes, my 12 year old son has an electric scooter that maxes out at about 20 mph and gets about 18 miles to the charge. Takes 5 hours to charge. Battery died last summer and it cost $300 and about 3 hours of my labor to replace. Was a wake up call as to how much money the government is pouring into electric vehicle subsidies just to make it within reach of the average Joe with an 8-year mortgage.
