Thought you Dukes would be interested in this article we just published; also curious to hear folks' thoughts on the topic.

Obviously JMU is in a different stratosphere than W&M in terms of athletics, and of course we love the in-state rivalry, but W&M should be keeping all its options open -- especially given the current/future collegiate landscape.

Couldn't care less, although I would miss the easy away trip.

Exactly what came to my mind.

Not meant to be mean, I just don’t care.
I would love to see the CAA implode. By all means, I think W&M should find a new conference.
While we're in the CAA, I like having W&M and Richmond but the Patriot league makes a ton of sense for W&M to me.
If I’m W&M, I look to SoCon or ASun or even Big South (for football) before thinking about a move to PL. If I’m Richmond, I eat a full diaper and call it a day.

LOL! Now, that right there is funny, I don't care who you are.
If there ever was a case for the Ivy to expand, seems WM is pretty deserving

I agree. W&M fits the Ivy academically, but athletically, they are a notch or two above, a kind of limbo-land. The CAA is a piss-poor place for any school.
Ehh...I could really care less. I only care if W&M leaving would prompt JMU to take action on leaving the CAA or if it would trigger collapse of the CAA.......like the old Southwest Conference.

I don't want W&M to leave the CAA, but I'm also kind of rooting for the CAA to fail....decisions decisions
Absolutely rooting for the CAA to fail. We need a new home. If it is with or without W&M, I am fine with that.
Is the consensus a Tribe exit would help spur JMU to FBS?
For me, Elon and W&M are peer institutions. I also feel UR and W&M should be in a conference together as well. JMU, Marshall, App and ODU should be together in the Sunbelt or CUSA. It’s that simple.
Count me in as someone rooting for the CAA to fail. in regard to W&M....the Patriot is a great home for W&M athletics despite what some on the W&M board think. Obviously football isn't as strong as the CAA but W&M would have a chance at dominating that sport in the Patriot. In other sports.....the Patriot has some very good programs.
Always have liked having W&M as a conference mate. It's a great institution and reasonably competitive in most sports. But mainly, it's a school that people have heard of. (if they haven't, then they are likely SEC bubba's or Walmart Wolverines). As long as we are FCS, I'd like to remain affiliated with them.
anything to get JMU out of FCS
My sources tell me W&M would move to Southern Conference.

They have a history there.

Furman, Wofford, Citadel, and VMI would be attractive mates.
I say they should stay if JMU stays. If JMU leaves that would be the catalyst for W&M. Maybe that works the other way too.
