I just watched a 1990 game between Bradley and Indiana State, and ISU's go-to guy was an Eddie Bird. You can't tell how it is spelled from the sound, of course, so I wondered if he was kin to that other Bird. Sure enough, he was a younger brother. He averaged from 12.9 to 15.3 points all four years at ISU. There were five Bird brothers in all.

Interesting. Sounds like he was a very good player. Just not in the same class as his much more famous older brother.
