I love reminiscing. I guess I would go with virginia squires losing to rick Barry and the nets. Squires had charlie scott and dr. J but still lost a close game and the norfolk fans were letting barry have it because he famously said he did not want to play for virginia because he didn't want his sons to learn to say y'all. Close second would have been odu women beating geno and uconn in a blowout at home. Just kidding, those are good but nothing will ever beat roasting the vt hokies at home. I was literally awestruck. How about you? What are yours?
Not sure if this would count as an actual live game or not, but one of my all-time favorites was the Harlem Globetrotters vs Kareem Abdul Jabbar's All-stars @ the Dothan Civic Center. Now that was cool. Unfortunately, the Washington Generals had went under earlier in the year, so the Globetrotters had e face Kareem Abdul Jabbar's All-stars. Still a good game though, and I enjoyed the Clown Prince of Basketball (can't remember his real name, but I remember his nickname though).

Also, Alabama vs Tennessee back in 1999 @ Tuscaloosa was good. Alabama's stadium was huge to me, and it was maybe a little over 85,000 at the time, not over 100,000 monstrosity it is today. I was working stadium security with my fraternity that day, and I got to go to the President's Box!!! I even got to see Governor Don Siegelman. A pain in butt to park, but an experience that will last a lifetime.

I also liked getting to see Troy vs Florida Atlantic as well. Howard Schnellenberger was still coaching the Owls!!!! Plus, my dad was with me for that game. We had a blast!!

Cuse vs Defending National Champions 2nd Ranked Clemson (who won like 48 out of their last 50 games) some obnoxious number like that
Syracuse NY
Carrier Dome
Unreal
Cuse win!
Boise Oklahoma Fiesta bowl. Best game I’ve ever seen of any sport at any level.
Arizona vs. Illinois 2005 NCAA Tournament but I'm biased:)
Hobart-Nazareth lacrosse, 1991. The 10 time defending D3 Champs get knocked off in overtime, ending their quest for #11.
Either La Tech vs TXST in 2012, USM vs TXST in 2015, or TXST vs OHIO in 2016
Jan 1 1981. Georgia 17-Norte Dame 10. Led by Herschel Walker Georgia completes an undefeated season to win the national championship. The crowd noise was unbelievable.
Michigan State - Michigan in 2015.

The game where the Michigan punter fumbled on the last play of the game and Michigan State returned it for a game winning TD.

Over 100,000 people in the Big House instantly went from cheering at deafening levels to *dead* silence. This was a Bartman/Buckner-level catastrophic loss for Michigan - it was like watching an instant funeral happen.

I witnessed that game in a sports bar in Columbus. It honestly took everyone in the room a while to grasp what they had just witnessed. It was an mix of pure confusion and then elation that the Blue and Maize had managed to grasp defeat from the the jaws of victory.
Coastal vs BYU
Alabama vs Clemson National Title game. Clemson scores with 2 seconds left in the game. Just still wondering if Bo Scarbough doesn't get hurt, then Alabama should win. They didn't want to tackle him. Jalen and offense scored way to quick and Deshawn Watson time to drive it down the field. Then win on a pick play to win.
Georgia-Oklahoma rose bowl

As a 16 year-old Irish fan I remember watching that game on TV. Extremely frustrating. IIRC, Notre Dame dominated play, Herschel ran for about 150 yards but needed a ton of carries, and that was basically the UGA offense. IIRC, thanks to negative plays and no passing, Georgia only had like 130 yards of total offense. The Irish had almost triple that amount.

But Georgia won the way they frequently did under the great Vince Dooley - bend don't break defense, and then capitalize on your opponent's miscues. IIRC, Notre Dame turnovers set up all the Georgia points, and ND drove in to Georgia territory time and again only to be stymied or shoot ourselves in the foot (I remember several missed field goals).

Anyway, a great day to be a Dawg, I'm sure. It left me with a headache that it took my girlfriend to get rid of, LOL.

I still remember the look on the face of some nerdy-kid UM fan clasping his head in agony that they cut away to after the score, LOL.

I saw that game in a sports bar in the French Quarter, while my wife and her friend spent my money at a casino, LOL. I was for MSU and was absolutely thrilled. Anything that makes 110,000 Meecheegin fans upset and dumbfounded is A-OK by me, LOL.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh, 2009. #5 vs #15, de facto conference championship game.

It had everything: a 99-yard kickoff return, 5 interceptions, 6 sacks, a missed extra point, a missed 2-point conversion, a tremendous comeback, and 3 lead changes in the final 6 minutes.

The styles were completely different. Pitt rushed 55 times and passed 21. Cincinnati rushed 18 times and passed 44.

Brian Kelly's offense was electric. Cincinnati only had possession for 12:37, and scored 5 offensive touchdowns and a field goal.

Based on the electricity and excitement of that game, I got tickets to the 2010 edition of Cincinnati vs Pittsburgh. It too was the final game of the season but it didn’t match the year prior’s contest.

Since you picked an old basketball game, I will too: In 1972 I saw the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Baltimore Bullets 116-112. This was a matchup of the previous year's NBA finals, and the game was played at Cole Field House, the University of Maryland's arena, because the Bullets were testing the waters for a move to Washington.

I was only seven years old and it was so thrilling being in a packed arena for the first time with everyone yelling. I remember the Bullets had Wes Unseld and Elvin Hayes, and the Bucks had Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bob Dandridge, and an old Oscar Robertson, who I remember my dad telling me about.

It was just an amazing experience, my first hoops game in person.
2001 - Venezia v Chievo Verona. Venezia scores in the last few minutes to get promoted to Serie A. Also, the stadium was on its own little island and the visiting fans came by barge and funneled to the visitor section.

Herschel had a dislocated shoulder that limited his effectiveness. Our seats were in the end zone. What I recall most vividly is the height advantage ND receivers had over the Dawgs secondary. I held my breath every time ND threw the ball.

The “bend but don’t break” defensive philosophy was trademark DC Erk Russel’s style.
