COGS COGS COGS
PG Amarr Knox
6-foot-2, 170 pounds
Bartlett High School
Class of 2022 ranking: 38
Committed to: Memphis

The most notable new name in the ESPN 60 is Knox, who recently made an early pledge to Memphis. Knox is a wiry playmaking guard with an aggressive style, shifty handle and creative finishing package. He has come on strong in recent months and is someone who should have more focus on him against national-caliber competition this summer.

I like this guy already just based on his description.

Great. He’s got long arms, too. Plus it appears he’s used to running the full court press. What’s not to like?

It appears both our guards committed Zocko and Amar are good at attacking the dribble and have more than respectable jumpers from 3 point land. They seem very interchangeable.

I really like to two guys Penny has picked up for next year.

They complement each other...A shooter and a Ball handler.

A top 40 PG...So that will definitely fill a need next year. So Knox likely limits the transfers Penny can bring in...Don't want to run this guy off for a 2 year rental.

Actually, if we get the PG from Coastal, we'll have Lomax and him back along with Knox.

According to Hurd, Knox really isn't a PG. He can play PG, but he's more a CG. Hurd said that team's true PG is Chandler Jackson. Seems backwards to me, but he should know.

That makes sense, he is just saying Knox is more of a scorer with some.handles so at his size he is called a pg. Jackson is more of a guy who likes to set people up. Kinda like Randy Culpepper/Julyan Stone.

Why would it be backward? Knox much better at catch and shoot from the wing

If we get Jones, I'm wondering if having two PGs on the team will affect Jackson's decision.

I'm just saying it as someone who hasn't seen either kid. Knox is smaller and typically listed by services as the PG. Jackson is bigger and is typically listed as CG or SG.

So I was just surprised when I heard Hurd. But I don't doubt what he's saying.

Possible. But given the way Penny rotates, and that both Lomax and Jones would be seniors, it seems something Penny could overcome in recruiting. Of course in today's world, Jackson could just go somewhere else his frosh year with the intention of coming to Memphis after those guys leave.

Actually, thinking about it, I think if Jones comes, he'll be here only one year. He's already entertaining going pro. I think he'll go pro next year regardless of where he ends up.

First Zocko decommits, then Jackson to FSU, now Knox decommits. I hope we got something big planned for a PG going forward.
