I'm sure he also likes Hubert Davis.

I think Davis is a Dean Smith guy, and Miller is a Roy Williams guy. Davis is also 12 years older than Miller and also recruited a lot of current players and commits which may or may not be a factor. They added Lebo and Sean May to the staff as well.

I mean he was a Dean Smith player but he was on Roy Williams' staff for a long time. Coaching wise I'd say he's a Roy Williams guy as much as a Dean Smith guy, maybe more.

Yeah and plus there's no program in the county that is more family than UNC. There is no Dean Smith vs Roy Williams factions; there is UNC family.
Honestly getting connected to extended family of UNC basketball and Ohio State football might end up the best thing to ever happen to UC athletics. You want to be connected to elite programs in the country. This give UC access to recruiting networks, coaches, and other potential sponsorship that would be never be there under normal circumstances.

You get the best guy possible regardless of whether they are connected to blue blood programs or not. That said does Miller's strong connection to UNC mean that potentially a guy who's a borderline guy at UNC is suggested to come here if UNC takes a different guy at their position? Maybe, but those situations are not going to make or break our program. Our program will be made by how good Miller is at his job; not how much he can leverage his UNC connections.

Agree and I can't think of two better schools to be connected to in their respective sports of Football (Ohio State) and Basketball (North Carolina). I could list my reasons why, but I'll just leave it at that.

I couldn't agree more. It stands to reason that people who have been associated with top-tier, highly successful programs for a long time are likely to know what it takes to succeed at a high level.
I think we hired David Pollack's little brother.

Ugh, can't stand David Pollack. He's a P5 shill. Don't want this visual in my brain tainting our basketball coach. 03-lmfao
Contract Details released...of note is the staff pool and buyout. That is nearly double what Brannen was afforded, and the general buyout is incredibly low by the "rubber hits the road" year. The staff pool makes you wonder if a mentor or two might find their way on staff...

Associate HC Roy Williams confirmed.

The staff pool is really encouraging.

I was thinking more of an "Emeritus Advisor" situation lolol
Love the staff pool. Wonder if that was JC or if Miller was willing to take less in order to pay his staff more.

Gives Miller room to get himself a big name assistant (or two).

Correction of the correction: "Only" a 150k increase over Brannen's pool. Still pretty good amount.

150k is a big difference for an assistant coach.

Yeah, it gives him room to pay a big time name (or get us a big time S&C coach). Wonder if he can pull in one of the UNC guys who Davis didn't retain.

P.S. A second correction to my number cause I didn't read it correctly. Brannen's staff pool was 1.15 mil. So the increase is actually 185k.

$150k is correct. $1.15 mil = $1,150,000, and $1,300,000 minus $1,150,000 = $150,000. Still a nice bump.
You might have been looking at it as $1.115 million, aka $1,115,000, which would be a difference of $185k. Easy mix-up to make.
150k increase got it, I got to excited by Miller news and posted too quick. Also I never deal with numbers nearly that big.

Anyone know if Brannen was actually spending the entire 1.15mil? I'm guess Miller will spend every dime on forming a great staff.
