It was this weekend.
Both days I think.
No alumni permitted on campus for it.
That’s all I know. Somebody fill in the rest of the details please!!
The athletic department provided a livestream with commentary.
Themes
Code:
Baker Booze Clues
Will Rice Drunkin' Donuts
Hanszen Stella Artwah
Wiess Julius Cider: The Fall of the RUMan RePUBlic
Jones Thomas the Drank Engine
Brown Alcohol City Limits: Brewsic Festival
Lovett Air Bud Light: Who Let the Drinks Out?
Sid Rich Cider-Man: Drive Me Home
Martel Vroom Vroom: Fast Bike
McMurtry Ratabrewie: His Name is Remy
Duncan Creedence Beerwater Revival: Brewed on the Bayou
GSA Perserbeerance
Buddy of mine sent me a screenshot in SMS, so I don't know what webpage he took these from. I was a bit perturbed that it listed the colleges alphabetically instead of founding order and still put GSA at the bottom. Also, I think there's a typo in the Weiss name; I don't know if "Julis" has some meaning I'm unaware of or if it should be Julius.

I turned it on for a bit.. it was on youtube... I hate to complain about it as they were doing the best they could, but the people I watched were disengaged, knew little about the colleges, the history of beer bike etc etc...
It was like watching people who knew nothing about golf talking about it. I didn't see any of the race because they never said anything about it.. timing... etc... they debated for five minutes which of the blues was Lovett.

Over the years I've become fonder of the less immediately timely pop culture themes (e.g. Creedence Beerwater Revival) and the less punny, more off-beat themes (e.g. Vroom Vroom: Fast Bike).
During my time on campus there were a number of unofficial themes floating around, most of which never came close to seeing the light of day as a Beer Bike theme. But one theme popped up every year, and came darn close to winning sometimes. Perhaps one day "Punch You in the Face Bike" will see it's day on the track.

Yes ... There are two typos:
It's Wiess (not Weiss ... its pronunciation is Yiddish, not German) ... and while "Julis Cider" is shown on the theme list in the doc just posted by dragon2owl, it is "Julius Cider" in the T-Shirt image.

One more correction needed (if you feel like it): in Rice's official order of precedence, McMurtry is 10th and Duncan is 11th.
Hmm...
Alphabetical order...
Chronological Order of charter...
Now, what about *order of finish*?!
(Or to paraphrase #s, any placing is okay as long as you have a good enough *theme*)

Instead of winners and losers, maybe everybody got a trophy and a juice cup?
Maybe since they have access to video this year they are verifying some of the penalties?
So Baker (men and women)won pod 1
Jones (men and women) won pod 2
I think McMurtry men won pod 4

What are pods?
(Especially since Baker & McMurtry men aren't among the top 3 that dragon posted ... and Jones women placed second to McMurtry's.)

Races were split into pods over 2 days, 3 teams at a time.
